Ken Gargett Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 possibly an odd pairing but i had one of those weeks. sat down last night to try and do a bit more work but just thought - bugger it. so watched some garbage on tv, and some old episodes of alias i had on tape, and lit up a hamlet. this was one of the hamlet baseball bat sized smokes but what a superb cigar. so balanced, so rich, just wonderful. had a hendriks and tonic with it, which was really quite spicy, and that worked well. but in an episode, someone has to create a diversion in an art gallery so they light up a big cigar. which does it. but they light up a cohiba. they were flashing it around so a little difficult but i am pretty sure it was a siglo vi. next shot, it has a band on it i did not recognise - i assume a non cuban. then as he finishes it, back to the cohiba. i also remember some dire film - havana nights 2 or something even worse - set in the days before the revolution, where someone is smoking a limited edition! any other examples out there?
Hohenthal Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 It happens a lot - Two and a half men, Home Improvement, etc. a scene starts with one inch of ash on a cigar, next thing it is a nub, next thing it is fresh lit, and all that in under 10 seconds "real time".
Pilgrims Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 Can't think of a cigar one but there are a lot of wine errors in film etc, on the positive side the one "film" that gets wine spot on is Ratatouille. Will keep an eye out for Cigar errors now
riazp Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 i'd be curious to see what that hamlet baseball bat sized cigar looks like!
jlacava88 Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 I can't be 100% sure, but I believe these are the baseball bat sized Hamlet cigars that Ken is talking about. Hamlet was in my local cigar shop and rolled me a couple of these beauties... haven't smoked one yet, but am very excited now!
Colt45 Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 It happens a lot - I agree - it's almost inevitable with multiple takes. I recall an article with Shatner where he ended up getting sick after taping a Boston Legal terrace scene..... Denny Crane!
ajgagnon Posted December 11, 2011 Posted December 11, 2011 OMG, that's a raucous thing. I'd forgotten how big those are. I had one in Victoria by fluke (didn't even know who Hamlet was) and man, they were rich! Beef tenderloin, red wine, mushrooms, then coffee, cocoa, tobacco and a hint of menthol at the end. Amazing.
Ken Gargett Posted December 11, 2011 Author Posted December 11, 2011 could be, but i find it a little difficult to gauge the comparison on the photos. possibly the same, or so close it doesn't matter, ring size but i think the ones we got from hamlet, this was about 5-7 years ago for these i think, were longer than the one in the photo. but no matter, great smoke. and there are endless examples of wine stuff ups in film.
