stinkhead Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 I have seen that many people apply their own white bands to cigars in order to write information on (such as date and brand). My question is what is the best way to do this? I am worried about using glue, because I do not want it to affect my cigars with an oder or something along those lines.

Ginseng Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 I've used similar bands in the past and I don't prefer them. The main problem is that the adhesive can be pretty strong and make it difficult to remove if you smoke the cigar down to nub-ville. Cigar wrapper mangling can ensue. Also, the paper is pretty thick and tends to be glossy. Now these are printable so maybe if they're thinner they'd be worth a spin. I don't often label cigars but when I do, I just cut strips from 3M Post-It note stickies. Sometimes I will tack the end down with a small bit of scotch tape. Wilkey
Puros Y Vino Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 Cool site. Free templates. If you don't want to use glue you could always interlock the ends with cuts halfway into the paper. Or try the torceador glue?
sblevit Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 Those bands work great and are easy to get off.

CanuckSARTech Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 I do this on a lot of singles that I have, as well as a labelling method for cigars that I trade/gift to fellow brothers/sisters. What I like to do is use a Brother label maker machine/tape. I actually cut 3/4" by 2" strips of cotton-bond parchment paper, something that is VOC free and won't affect the cigars. I then wrap that around the cigar near the original band. Then, I print off a label on my Brother label maker using 1/2" tape, with all of the cigar's details on there, and then adhere the label onto the wrap of cotton paper. This is so that no adhesive actually touches the cigar itself, leaving no potential chemical damage. Works well, and adds to a bit of organization in a clustered humidor sometimes. I've got some positive feedback from others that they like this on cigars that they receive from me on a trade, for keeping track of box codes and whatnot. All that said, I can't take credit for this though. Got the idea from Bart with some of his collection pictures and posts. Just tweaked it for my use.
