Hohenthal Posted October 22, 2011 Posted October 22, 2011 Tonight I had the last but one out of a terrific box, not a single one has let me down, ever. Beautiful oily colorado maduro wrapper, firm to the touch - normally I just twist of the pigtail and check the draw, this one felt a bit firmer than normally, so I decided to clip the end with a double blade cutter, draw was excellent, perfect resistance with a sweet green tea flavour. First third was dry grass, some exotic fruit like Star/Passion fruit, Mango, Papaya which, together with an abundance of melted butter create that "slick" feel on the tongue. Hints of sweet spices. Second third, still buttery, and a yeasty fresh dough with some cumin and coriander mixed in. Touch of coffee came along. Beautiful change. The ash comes off in one big chunk (6cm), pushing through the ash produces a nice glassy-sandpapery noise - perfect construction. Last third : more coffee, dark toasted tobacco, but still remarkably clean. A hint of mustiness like the smell of an old umbrella towards the end, but a very pleasant dry aftertaste that reminds me of strong black tea. On hot summer days I often thought: what a "cool" smoke! Tonight, at around zero degrees (!) the same cigar felt warm and comforting. A classy 93/100!

Ginseng Posted October 28, 2011 Posted October 28, 2011 The Reyes are the star of the line, with regularity. An excellent little firecracker and a delightful review. Wilkey
Hohenthal Posted October 28, 2011 Author Posted October 28, 2011 ..I have never tasted anything citrus of fruit related in a Reyes, chocolate and coffee all the way for me... Not every cigar out of that box, only a few had that exotic fruit, which is more subtle than citrus. Adds to the - anyway - great complexity. The dominating flavours are the ones you mentioned, though. "Big" small cigar.
