Guest airmikey Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Hi guys ..just arrived in maui. I'm at a non smoking resort. My question is ..do u guys smoke on the balcony anyway ?
ohioldd Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Hell Yeah...Puff away! Just sit back away from the front of the balcony. Hopefully, you are not on the first floor!
Guest rob Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 I wouldn't. I think it would be extremely disrespectful and arrogant to do so. It's their house.... their rules.
Colt45 Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 The whole resort is non smoking, or only the rooms are non smoking? If only the rooms, I'd keep the door closed while outside smoking. The whole resort, I'd smoke where it's not an issue.
investandprosper Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Welcome to Maui! Unfortunately, pretty much everywhere here is non-smoking. You can usually find a designated smoking area with a bench down the sidewalk from the resort ... depending on which resort you are staying at. The beaches are public property, so feel free to smoke there too. You won't find any indoor smoking areas, even at the one or two cigar shops we have here. If I had the money to do so, I would open a cigar bar with a smoking lounge here. Not sure what hoops one would have to jump through to allow it, though. Enjoy your stay!
CigarAsh Posted October 14, 2011 Posted October 14, 2011 Had the same problem at a Westin Resort in Canada in August. Non smoking room but I had a wonderful balcony with a terrific view. Sat on the balcony for a few days smoking cigars. On the third day got a phone call from the front desk asking if anyone was smoking on my balcony and reminding me it was a $200 fine for smoking, even on the freakin' balcony. Geez, I'm tired of the anti-smoking crusaders . . .

I usually vacation in Kauai and you can't smoke anywhere there. I was fortunate to stay at a private house last year where we could smoke outside on the patio. Head to the beach, find a quiet spot, stick your toes in the sand and light up. The only disadvantage is refilling my drink! G

cigcars Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 That's rotten, man So people who are chain smokin' cigarette addicts at that hotel...I'll bet their bathrooms in that hotel are smoke-filled hells!
Manny Sotelo Posted October 15, 2011 Posted October 15, 2011 If you do just make sure that its an amazing smoke because that stick could easly become a $200+ smoke with the fine applied...
