tydra Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 Hi Everyone, I recently became acquainted with a salesperson at one of our LCDHs here in the UAE. He's proposed some vintage and hard to find cigars (apparently). Problem is, most of them are 00 and 01s, any ideas/advice on which should I take a chance on? I wouldn't mind dishing out the dough, but I hope at least I get my money's worth. So here's the list: Bolivar CE (01) Bolivar Emiratos HDM Regalos Partagas Connies 2 (00) Partagas Serie D No 3 Punch RS 12 (01) Punch SS 1 (00) I already bought quite a number of cigars from the same place and was provided with some great cigars (Party Shorts 95, RA 898 02, Des Dieux 03 etc...) I didn't know if it'd be against the rules to post the prices to give you a better idea? Thanks in advance everyone.
goalie204 Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 Punch SS 1 and Party con 2 from that list imho
CBL Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 I believe posting prices is against the forum rules. Also I'd be weary of '00 & '01 cigars as they're known to have some quality/construction issues, you'll might be able to get lucky with a great box, but if you can't try a single first I'd be careful committing to a whole box. Although if you're sure all cigars will be great I'd go for either the Connie 2's or the RS 12. Those are the cigars I've had before and immensely enjoyed.

Although I think that ever since James Suckling wrote that article bashing those years people became even more skeptical. Luckily, I've had great experiences with all my smokes from those years. Ranging from average, to most excellent. Cheers Mike
Lotusguy Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 My recommendation: Inspect them all carefully, especially for hard spots or overfilled sticks. Yes, the years are questionnable, but not all production from that time was bad. My personal preference (assuming construction is good) would be the BCE and the SdC #2 - but that is mostly because I didn't have a chance to try the other ones you listed (and probably never will).
thechenman Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 Personally, I avoid all cigars from '00 and '01. It's just not worth the disappointment.
