Fuzz
That used to be a common occurrence at the old Kai Tak airport in HK. It was always a treat when you're coming in to land; flying so low you could look into people's apartments, flying sideways to battle the crosswinds, and then slamming on the brakes to pull up short on the runway otherwise it's a ditch into Kowloon Bay! And taking off was a treat too On one runway, the plane must bank sharply to the left after take off to avoid crashing into the mountains!

I miss the approach at Kai Tak. You can see the washings at the apartments. Now it has been converted to a Go Kart venue. Now it is quite boring with the new HK airport.... Wing
Yes, what a treat Kai Tak was. Its still held firmly in the hearts of the Chinese. As arrivals and departures increased, did so Kai Tak and gereral growth in Hong Kong. Hong Kong has fallen on some tough times since Kai Tak and although unrelated to its shutdown, whenever mentioned, so is the topic of growth in HK during the 60’s-early 90’s (like what I’m doing now). It’s shown in the fact I’ve yet to come across any Hong Kongers (hahaha) who would take the new for the old. Oh, and for the impressive landings it provided.
