ZinZan Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 Was wondering if anybody managed to watch this outside the states, apparently it will not be shown in the states. Quite strong cast Greg Kinnear, Katies Holmes, Barry Pepper and Tom Wilkinson. I thought it was interesting, there's not many autobiographical movie on JFK. And it was suppose to be broadcast on the History channel in the states before it was pressured otherwise. I thought Kinnear was good as JFK, he got the mannerism and speech just about right.
gigabyte056 Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 It just started here yesterday. Seems like a good and through job.

MoneyPit Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 It was shown in the states, I saw it on the history channel with DirectTV. It was a pretty good series but the last few episodes seemed very compact whereas the earlier episodes spent way too much fluff time. Overall I enjoyed it and it was a good one-time view.
CaptainQuintero Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 I watched it when it came on UK TV back in April I think. I really enjoyed it, there was nothing at all in it which I thought deserves it to not be shown in the US. It was shown on the History channel here, very tame. I guess maybe if someone was really easily offended....they believe that politicians are all pure beings of light that only want to spread love.....they are a member of the Kennedy family.........they think infidelity is contagious......maybe, MAYBE they could get offended by some of the show. MAYBE Ok, no they wouldn't. Basically if someone gets offended by anything in that show then even a life as a monk would offend you because of the offensive rough cloth your robe is made from. It's a really tame show, really well made and I really enjoyed it but it was about as offensive as dropping your bookmark and loosing your page in a book. I don't see what angle the people who got it censored were coming from, unless they genuinely think that people are not aware tht JFK was sometimes too friendly with the ladies and that people, upon realising this, would go on some kind of rampage/suffer mental breakdown as their world broke apart around them. (It's not offensive ) The show I think will get shown in the US at some point, I think all the censorship is probably just a gimmick to make people watch it when it does get shown. I can't see any other reason.
gigabyte056 Posted June 14, 2011 Posted June 14, 2011 Hi, Looked into it as I was astounded to hear the show is banned from being shown on the History channel. The reason for it not being shown was a grievance filed by the keepers of the flame for the Kennedy family saying it portrayed the late president and first lady in bad light. I will not go into the reasoning behind it since I don't wish to air US issues or politics here, suffice to say that Jackie O was one of the reasons for not showing it as it is as damaging to her memory as it is to JFK and RFK. The series will be aired in the US during the summer as far as I have heard
ZinZan Posted June 23, 2011 Author Posted June 23, 2011 I completely agree with Cap, just dont understand the reason they won't show it. It was pretty good production. But I kind of disappointed that there will not be a second season. Lol
