So I've been looking (without much look) for a while cabinet so I can store (buy) more cigars for a while now. I'm in the process of returning a pile of junk which died after one day and I think I may have found a replacement. The only issue is I can't for the life of me find any information on whether it is thermoelectric or not.

What do you guys think?

My situation is the room I have planned for it is normally 19c most of the year around. Maybe 3 weeks a year we get temps which can go up to 26c. Humidity varies from 40%-60%. Most of the year I can see myself not having to turn it on ( I am planning on building a wooden cabinet to fit this into just to give that little bit of extra cooling)

One feature it says it has is abuilt in heater which will warm the cabinet back up to the desired temp if winter gets harsh etc. So thoughts?

Thanks

Oh here is a link of links brought up by putting th model into search engines

Still doesn;'t mention thermoelectric, they mention it being an 'electroinc wine cooler' though .......

Those are compressor based coolers, not thermoelectric.

Just stumbled across this:

WIne Fridges for cigars

I assume the information there is correct. It seems for my situation (leaning towards not having the things turned on) the thing I should concern myself with the most is:

-how airtight is the unnit

-how thick are the walls (for insulation)

-how big is it (more cigars = happy Captain)

Im thinking that it would be a lot easier for me to just cool the room with an air con unit for those odd few weeks in England when we get heat!

If you have a stable ambient environment, and aesthetics are not an issue, then I think an insulated chest - a regular refrigerator or floor freezer (not plugged

in) are a great alternative - like a large version of insulated beverage coolers many of us use.

I've actually considered wood carcass humidors / cabinets with styro type insulation, and consulted a humidor artisan about it. But SmokinAl doesn't like me anymore.....

lol it's pretty much at the stage I am at now. I have four units I am going to look at tomorrow (after dropping off the broken one at the store who took me for a ride) with the aims of finding out which one is the biggest and easiest to seal up!

Then I'm just going to sit in a dark corner with my cabinet and go Gollum like it's going out of fashion
