I've heard such mixed things about the Cohiba Siglo VI. Some seem to think that Jesus Himself smokes them, others claim their QC is so awful as to rival the Monte #2/4s. For a cigar this expensive ... Well let's just say that thought doesn't appeal to me.

So what do you lads think? Are there some exceptional years and some to avoid? How do you think the recent stuff will turn out (I know these need years of age)?

Thanks!!

I've smoked many boxes of Sig VI. I would put it in my top 5 for sure. Yes, I've had a few duds. But overall a tremendous cigar. But hell, I smoke a lot of Monte 4s too.

QC has been appalling over the past 12 months. What I picked at the warehouse yesterday were some of the best in a year.

I'm hearing "don't buy 2010s" in here somewhere. Do you ever get aged stock in, Rob?

I've honestly only had samples of the bigger Siglos that were too fresh ... nice clean tobacco, but very little of that delicious Cohibaness. But then last week I had a Sig I that was just wonderful and thought "I wish I could get one of the bigger ones to act like this."

How many years do you guys thing the VIs need? I know I'll get a lot of different answers, so let me be more specific: how long before these fatties really display the "Cohiba Siglo" characteristics that we all like in these (loads of honey and tea, etc)?

Quite honestly I think the Cohiba Siglos with the best flavors are the I, II and III. The IV, V and VI I tend to have more issues with. As far as how long to lay them down. In my short time experimenting with Cohibas, it seems like I prefer them with at least 2 years of box age on them. Keep in mind, that is the duration for my taste preferences, YMMV.

My experience with i and iis are limited, no experience with iii and v. I love the iv and have smoked many, when they are they are fantastic, such a great vanilla note that evolves one of my favorites up there with aged coros. The opening on the vi is superb, less so on the 2nd and I don't like the back end but this is only with a couple years on them. Bigger cigars I find need more time, I won't touch ivs until they have at least two years and the vis imho need at least 3 to get rid of the grassy and muddled young flavor.
