Now I'd like tp get everyones thoughts - when it comes to my graduation what would be a suitable choice for a celebratory CC? (Bearing in mind I'm not quite in the Siglo VI gran reserva league yet! ) Cheers guys Sam

Puros Y Vino Posted June 1, 2011 Posted June 1, 2011 X2 on Prez's suggestion. I say go with a Bolivar Gold Medal. Classy looking cigar and tastes great.
samjones Posted June 1, 2011 Author Posted June 1, 2011 Cheers for the advice, nice choices Also good shout EL Prez, I have been wanting to try the lancero/espcial/fundadores etc and this may be the perfect time to break my long skinny cherry! (that sounds very wrong)
Habanakane21 Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 First off...Well done I know it's not a "popular" brand...but I highly recommend the SLR Pacificos.. Czars has singles...I had my first one on Monday....this thing was unbelievable.. Easily a 94-95 for me. Started great right out of the gate and never let down. Creamy and toasty all the way through!

The lingering elegance of a long-skinny suits the moment to a "T"
benjaminbbush Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Congratulations on this feat! You may also want to go ahead and plan the celebration for (i) the conclusion of the bar exam, (ii) the day the results are released, and (iii) the day you are actually sworn in! Enjoy all of the milestones because they will soon be a foggy memory in the haze of billable hour requirements. I cannot recommend a cigar rather I would recommend a quantity---as much as possible.
Rehman Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 (Bearing in mind I'm not quite in the Siglo VI gran reserva league yet! ) Many congratulations, Sammy. But I'd never recommend something like a Cohiba GR for a celebration, if that implies a happily crowded and noisy affair. Better a robust, no-nonsense performer like a Bolivar or Partagas; nothing smaller than a corona gorda of something that can hold its own amid the jumble of flavours, smells and other sensory complexities associated with a get-together of lots of people. (A Partagas Culebra actually contributes to the party!) The Siglo VI GR... now that's something for a very quiet and contemplative time for yourself. Best wishes on your career!

Oh ok, not tried any SLR's yet, that sounds like a great flavour profile though, right up my street! Cheers
samjones Posted June 2, 2011 Author Posted June 2, 2011 Sowega and Rehman - thanks first off! Definately will be having a cigar summer before work kills me in the not so distant future Being a bit of a newbie I'm keen to get a good spread of different Cubans, what would you say are the key "must try" cigars across the brands and vitolas??
nick17 Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 congrats Sam! I would go with a Cohiba Lancero or maybe a BHK52/54/56
thechenman Posted June 2, 2011 Posted June 2, 2011 Congrats sammyj...completing your law degree is quite an achievement...something that calls for serious celebration with lots of drinking. Just one bottle of HC7 won't be enough. For ocassions like this there is only one cigar...the Guantanamera Cristales. Ask for it by name...
