With the ongoing pursuit of anti-smoking groups and proposed govt legislation in further restricting our choices and enjoyment on how we wish to live , I have come across and interesting article written by the musician Joe Jackson (link below) which provides some balance to this whole topic.

He raises some interesting points and facts about smoking in general - not just cigars.

Take from it what you will.

Light up and enjoy the read :buddies:

One of the things that I find myself becoming increasingly irritated by re the whole anti-smoking movement is that whilst smoking and smokers are becoming ever more demonised it seems to me that consistent,heavy/binge drinking, which has plenty of its own associated risks, continues to be seemingly something to be proud of and celebrated.Indeed at least one of my colleagues,a staunch anti-smoker,takes great delight in proudly announcing how pissed she was over the course of any given weekend.Intoxication is used as an excuse, even in law courts sometimes,as an excuse for casual violence, verbal and physical abuse, adultery etc etc and when it does catch up with some people who become alcoholics there are some apologists who have the audacity to call it a "disease"!!! Absolute crap!

Just today I received 3 stories in my RSS feeds.

First one is about how smoking will kill six million this year.

The other two are about how cellphones are carcinogenic or can lead to brain cancer.

Guess which one will be demonized more and which other requires "more study" I'm pretty sure there are more cellphones in the world than there are smokers.
