OZCUBAN Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011     A teacher asked her 6th grade class how many of them were Gillard fans.   Not really knowing what a Gillard fan is, but wanting to be liked by the teacher, all the kids raised their hands except for little Johnny in the front row.  The teacher asked little Johnny why he has decided to be different. 'Because I'm not a Gillard fan.' The teacher asked, 'Why aren't you a Gillard fan?' 'Because I'm a Liberal.' The teacher asked him why he's a Liberal. Little Johnny proudly answered, 'Well, my Mum's a Liberal and my Dad's a Liberal, so I'm a Liberal.' Annoyed by this answer, the teacher asked, 'If your mum was a moron and your dad was an idiot, what would that make you?' With a big smile, little Johnny replied, 'That would make me a Gillard fan.' _____________________________________________________________
Traz Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 The worst kind of (future) Voter; those who follow whatever Daddy or Mother-Dearest vote for rather than making up their own mind, preferably from experience rather than tabloid garbage. At least the teacher has half a brain.

So then you are happy for the country to continue it's spin aound the toilet bowl accompanied by the turds who voted in this waste product of a government?
Traz Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Somehow I think the world is not coming to an end, and as long as true-blue Aussies don't have their rights at work threatened I think we'll be okay. Wouldn't bother me if Liberals got in again because if they tried to screw with the Working Class once more they'll get the same treatment the little rodent did, booted out of his own seat and all. Boat-people don't scare me. Bosses and the mega-rich running the show do.

You mean the right of a worker who sits on his backside all day and produces nothing for his employer should be protected at all cost? You mean that an employer who has such an employee should have no right to get rid of this piece of dead wood? No one has the right to think that the world owes them a living. Your mistake is in your belief that those who have worked hard and created a business are the enemy. It is those who have worked hard and employ people who should be protected by laws that enable them to pick and choose the people who fit best with their business. A strong business employs efficient productive people who help build an economy. A business forced to employ troublemakers will not be around for long. Pull your head out of your backside and try to see the damage that the reds and greens are doing to this country. And that rodent as you called him was the last real PM we had.
thechenman Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Wow...I thought only U.S. politcal discussions got this heated.
gigabyte056 Posted May 19, 2011 Posted May 19, 2011 Wow...I thought only U.S. politcal discussions got this heated. Politics is a heated subject, no matter where in the world you are. This thread started by a joke and escalated to right vs left in Australia. Previous thread started off with the off chance of removing the embargo from Cuba and escalated to a discussion on the color of skin and such. It is summer time I guess and the hot weather bring out the worst in people. Why can't we all just get along...
Traz Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Those with an extremist-mindset are the best to take the piss out of and thusly fire-up. When someone takes it personally, it only serves to make it all the more amusing. @ Warren: Typical 'the bosses have it so bad, they need everything; they are the boss so should be able to do as they please without question' mentality. Disgraceful. Work Choices was too heavily exploitable, and when such things were brought to light, what did little Howard say? "Oh, no...they shouldn't do that... (But it's perfectly legal!)" Of course, you are happy to view all the extreme angles where the Boss is always right, and the Worker could never be. However, you're obviously the type who wouldn’t care about honest hard workers getting screwed over (happily oblivious?), and perhaps there are vested interests, but to go any further would be a waste of time with someone like you. If you swore the sky was purple and I showed you proof otherwise, I don't doubt you'd be content to blissfully look away.
Colt45 Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 Gents, Non-U.S. politics are allowed, but that does not mean that simple courtesy and civility are out the window. Please, keep on point and do not make things personal. Thanks.
frenchkiwi Posted May 20, 2011 Posted May 20, 2011 gotta laugh the Aussies are the western economy that has been the least hit by the global recession (their banks stayed clear of toxic US subprimes), is roaring along on the back of selling minerals sprouting out of the ground to the rest of the world, and people are still ready to come to insults over whoever got voted in. at least the beauty of democracy is that Generally Speaking it lets us let off steam by fighting with our tongues rather than killing each other. spare a thought for the poor libyans, syrians et al. i will meditate on this once i find the appropriate cigar ;-) (btw i have been harbouring violent thoughts against our current government and we don't know how lucky we are either! except that we are not quite as economically lucky as the Ozzies!)
