redlir Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Hey folks. I need some battery powered fans for my coolidors, but it doesn't look like these Oust fans are made anymore? Are there alternatives out there? My search has come up empty so far.
SandmanTR Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 You can find them out there. Amazon is usually a good place for them. http://www.amazon.com/Johnson-Oust-Fan-Cle...9526&sr=8-1
Puros Y Vino Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 Never saw any alternatives. If you're in the US some stores might still have them. I've seen them on Amazon, but they're not cheap. To be honest, they're not that powerful and tend to "stick". I plan on modifying mine to use larger fans. Good luck with the search. You never know. Some BOTL/SOTL might help you out. That's how I got mine.

I'll keep searching, or maybe just rig up something on a timer, but I don't really want to run wires into the coolidor if I don't have to.

I have set up two PC fans with lower voltage , they need 5v but run on 3v. I put them on the bottom of my cooler and they run slow but the air moves enough to circulate, without the tornado effect. The all timer thing came from the use of the oust fan since they run on battery. If you need I can send you schematics on how to wire the cables into a small power supply. Are you using a wine cooler? 1

OK, Couldn't find the schematics as this was saved on my former work computer which is now out of my hands so I will use a verbal explanation and hope this does you fine... Take two one large pc fans: Fans Take one multi volt power adapter: Power adapters Strip the cabling from the connectors of the power supply as well as the fans and solder them together. Use shrink tubing to cover the split ends you made from the power supply and the connectors. I used strips to connect the modified fans to the bottom shelf pointing upwards circulating the air. all links point to examples of the products used, you can find all of them at radio shack and various pc and electronic outlets I am ordering another cooler soon, will do the same but this time will upload it straight here.
