Vortigan Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 Hey everyone.Just something I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on.I guess we're all pretty well up on the benefits of aging our cigars etc but what have you found to be some of the cigars that smoke really well when they're young too?.Obviously I guess there'll be a certain amount of generalisation given that no two years of production will ever be the same.Looking forward to hearing your experiences and opinions.Cheers all.
mykeuva Posted April 30, 2011 Posted April 30, 2011 I can smoke Partagas Shorts and Dip 2's right off the truck....I think those 2 are solid smokes when young...

aes8 Posted May 1, 2011 Posted May 1, 2011 The cigars that smoke well ROTT will vary over time due to the nature of production. You just need to sample and keep your ear to the ground. I can tell you that recent PSP2 Tubos are smoking great now. In addition the PLPC are also. When Rob reveals Myster Cigar No. 3 you should be able to purchase that and smoke it after about 30 days to let any rough edges formed in transit smooth out. Whenever I make a purchase I always determine if it is a box I'm going to bury for a long nap or if I will just put it in the current rotation and "smoke off the top". Good luck

Good luck Therein lies my problem,if problem is an appropriate word.I'm hoping one day in the not too distant future to have the means whereby I can have a sleeping stock and a current rotation.Unfortunately for now I'm working with two desktops with a combined capacity of around 200 so therefore aging in any realistic way isn't going to happen.

I'm in a similar situation because I've only just started smoking cigars. What I am seriously considering is taking advantage of the FOH online locker for long-term storage, at least initially. http://www.friendsofhabanos.com/humidor/faq Although since you're in the UK that might not suit you. You wouldn't want to age cigars for a few years only to have them seized by customs on their way to you. That would be incredibly depressing.
