El Presidente Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 Went for a bikeride to the local creek with my dogs and my son on Sunday. The dogs love a swim. Had to negotiate around a 1.5m Taipan that took up residence in the middle of the grassy path. It wasn't happy but let us pass. I saw this story this morning. That is one brave kid to pick up a 1.8m Taipan because it was striking at its dog. http://www.heraldsun.com.au/news/national/...6-1226041970306
Holysmokes Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 First I hear Ken's backyard is infested with spiders, now I hear about random snakes attacks ... whats going on down there?
frenchkiwi Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 It's Australia unfortunately. Everything that breathes is out to get you in one way or another over there. Except for koalas maybe - but even they have mean claws.
El Presidente Posted April 20, 2011 Author Posted April 20, 2011 Know how I know you're lying? The creek would be 700 m from my house
First Lady Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 They breed us tough in Australia (or just plain stupid)
kcheek Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 Lol, a true little boy. Taking a headless snake to show-and-tell!
Cohiba Stevie Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 My god did you guys read that story?!!! That kid is the coolest 11 year old ever. First he defends his dog against the worlds third most venomous snake, lifts it by its head to show his grandpa, then decapitates it, then puts in a jar in the freezer to show his mates, then just gets on his motorbike... Amazing. If i was 11 years old and i was in that situation i probably would have run away crying like a little girl. Come to think of it im 24 now and i still would! Lol

Lol I can tell you Taipans are not shy! It would have been a battle Royale between the 11 year old and the full grown snake !LOL! The snake would have been thinking "WTF!" Glad it all ended well (.....except for the snake)
CBL Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 Love the story! It's both extremely cool and incredibly careless Love how 'red-neck' that little kid is, driving a motorbike at 11 years old and bringing a gnarly headless snake in a jar to show and tell Wish I had grown up in Australia! All I have to battle here is giant cockroaches
First Lady Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 We have giant Cockies as well .... things get big in Aussie..
Fuzz AI Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 They breed us tough in Australia (or just plain stupid) A little from column A and a little from column B! Australia, the land where if it walks, crawls, flies, swims, or slithers... it's probably poisonous, venomous, or just down right deadly!
Colt45 Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 .... things get big in Aussie.. Yeah, look at a certain unnamed someone's (Ken) fish stories........
sharil Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 found this link from the ame news site. http://www.couriermail.com.au/news/queensl...f-1226041777175 "I had it around the neck," Walker told The Courier-Mail from his hospital bed on Monday. "I was holding it tight, but its head could move, and it got me. I was carrying it up to the house to show to my grandad." yikes! He said he had learnt his lesson "not to pick up and play with big black snakes". indeed!
