Ghabanos Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 Aim looking for a humidor. Desktop. To hold a min of 50 sticks. Solid cover, no glass. One divider. Nothing fancy. There are sooooooo many choices. Can someone recommend something? I have been looking at $30-$50 humidors, maybe I should be asking, as long as they are lined with Spanish cedar and properly sealed will less expensive humidors do the trick? Any information to help my decision along would be great.
bc8436 Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 Get some Tupperware or a cooler, a decent digital hygrometer, then order some 65% Heartfelt beads (or unscented Exquisicat kitty littler). Cheap humidors are cheap for a reason.

tmac77 Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 I agree with previous posts get a tupperwear or cooler and some beads. I find that the Cigarmony RH beads perform better than the heartfelt ones. If you do insist on getting a desktop for esthetic purposes the Savoy's are decent without killing you on the pirce.

Ghabanos Posted April 17, 2011 Author Posted April 17, 2011 If you're looking for a humidor to hold a minimum of 50 sticks then I would recommend getting a 150 ct or larger. Assuming this is your first humidor, the most common mistake is buying one that is too small and regretting it. If you're going to hang around here for a while you might as well get a cooler or a tower... What's a tower?
Ghabanos Posted April 17, 2011 Author Posted April 17, 2011 Gents - thanks for all the comments so far...
CanuckSARTech Posted April 17, 2011 Posted April 17, 2011 What's a tower? I think he means a larger, cabinet style humidor. A bookshelf / tower style, a tall display humidor with lots of containment space.
thechenman Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 I would recommend you check out cheaphumidors.com. I've purchased several humidors from them, and while not the best quality, definitely solid. And they are cheap.
Vortigan Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 Worth checking out www.doscaballoscigars.com also my friend :-))
Ghabanos Posted May 4, 2011 Author Posted May 4, 2011 Thanks again for all the recommendations... I am going to go with some tupperwear first while I shop a little longer for a desktop (150ct at least). might sound weird, but this is going to be so much fun...can't wait to start aging the **** of these sticks - just picked up some HQ Cohiba robustos and BHK54s... (mostly in the online humi, but some at home)
IcedCanuck Posted May 11, 2011 Posted May 11, 2011 I have used http://www.humidorvault.com/ several times and never had any major problems.
