DarkSky Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Just looking for some advice on what to pick up while I'm there. ** I'm only allowed 50 cigars to bring back into Canada per person (so that means 100 for me as my girlfriend can bring 50 with her) ** Please no expensive cigars! I'm looking at a $10/stick max. I'm using this list which is pretty much the same as another list that was posted here. Right now I'm looking at the ones below. But will try and limit myself to 10ct boxes so I can get more selection. I also need to include some smaller sticks in the mix, because I often don't have much time to smoke. - Montecristo Edmundo ($167.50 x25) or Montecristo #2 ($190 x25) - Montecristo petite edmundo ($130 x25) 4.3" x52 - Cohiba robusto ($260) - Partagas Series D #4 ($142.50 x25) ($61.50 x10) - Punch petite coronas ($95 x25) Likes: creamy/smooth cigars with a lot of smoke. Ring gauge of 50+ (unless on a petite corona). Dislikes: a lot of pepper/spice. I'm not big on making it feel like I wiped a leaking battery on my tongue. Some people love burning pepper, not me! Not a big fan of lancero type cigars (long and thin). A 6" length is about max, and preferably nothing under 50 ring. Thanks in advance!!! (If Rob has a top 10 list posted anywhere, or any sort of ranking, I'd love to have a look at that)
DarkSky Posted March 29, 2011 Author Posted March 29, 2011 HdM Epicure #2 Sounds tasty according to the ! Thanks!
thechenman Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 RyJ Wide Churchill Hoyo de Monterrey Epicure Especial Hoyo de Monterrey Petit Robustos Cohiba Siglo II El Rey del Mundo Choix Supreme Fonseca No. 1 I'd also recommend Por Larranaga Petit Coronas, but I'm not sure how feasible that is if you want variety since they come in cabs of 50.
Firewiz25 Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Partagas Shorts Bolivar PC Cohiba Sig I Monte #4 or #5 SLR Serie A
tmac77 Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 Another vote from me for the El Rey del Mundo Choix Supreme in addition to the H. Upmann Mag 50.
cigcars Posted March 29, 2011 Posted March 29, 2011 *If they're there for regular public purchase: Cohiba Behikes *Any Regionals of at least lonsdale size or larger *Cohiba Gran Reservas *Montecristo Reserva No. 4 *(Oh!! DarkSky Posted March 31, 2011 Author Posted March 31, 2011 Cohiba Behike, Cohiba Behike, Cohiba Behike! Where can I get them for under $10 a stick ??? Store at the factory?
armedak Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 On any beach or back alley!! Don't worry they will come to you!!
Tarks Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 Where can I get them for under $10 a stick ??? Store at the factory? Nowhere! If you ever find them at that price, run!
Holysmokes Posted March 31, 2011 Posted March 31, 2011 I don't know if you ever had a trinidad robusto extra or Trinidad Robusto T, but if you haven't they are great and they fit the profile of cigars you seem to enjoy, creamy, thick smoke, woody, a bit grassy at times. Check it out! Enjoy yourself!
DarkSky Posted April 17, 2011 Author Posted April 17, 2011 I ended up getting: 25x Partagas D4 25x Montecristo Petit Edmundo 10x Monte #2 10x Monte #4 10x Romeo #3 5x Cohiba Sig 2 5x Cohiba Sig 4 5x Monte #4 3 packs of Cohiba cigarettes 1 pack H.Upmann cigarettes For all my cigar-related photos from Cuba, go here: Cigar photos / LCDHs For all my Cuba photos, go here: Cuba vacation photos
DarkSky Posted April 17, 2011 Author Posted April 17, 2011 Nowhere! If you ever find them at that price, run! Yah that's what I thought. My first post said I'm limiting myself to $10 max per cigar (I'm not rich), then Marevas posts "Behike Behike Behike!". Not everyone knows that they're much more expensive than the average cigar
thechenman Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 Thanks for sharing the pics...looks like a great time.
Habanakane21 Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 Thanks for sharing the photos of your trip with us. Looks like you had one hell of a time.
Pilsner14 Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 Just got back from the motherland of Habana/Varadero myself and included a good haul. Smoked Behike....visited Mr. Robaina on 5 y 16th. I have to admit though........I wasn't all that impressed with the construction quality of many of the cigars and boxes I either looked at or purchased. And to be very truthful I am not super meticulous.....but alot of the cigars were seriously underfilled and alot of soft pockets. Best cigars bought were the custom rolls at the LCDH on 5 y 16th. All in all though.......I was livin' the dream and a great trip.
semery74 Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 My choice would be 50 Custom 109's. Why would you buy something that is readily available at home? Get something unique that will make your trip memorable forever.
