thechenman Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 I don't think so... Chinese Indoor Smoking Ban It's been tried and tried and ignored even more...
bc8436 Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Short of arresting people for smoking indoors, I don't see how they will be able to enforce it. Smoking is simply too entrenched in Chinese culture.
bassman Posted March 24, 2011 Posted March 24, 2011 Mind that my last visit was in 1989, but I never have been in a country where so many people smoke. Down in Yunnan provence old folks smoked tobacco out of what looked like huge bamboo bongs. Don't get me started on Chinese spitting!

Even the cows hang out with a cigar there....

kyee Posted March 25, 2011 Posted March 25, 2011 I travel to Shanghai regularly for work. A couple of years ago we had to take a co-worker to the hospital. I was shocked to see people walking around in there smoking cigarrettes. unreal. Yes, there were No Smoking signs posted, but no one paid attention to them.
