ndak Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Besides length, was wondering if someone could provide the differences in the two cigars in terms of complexity and flavor profile. Thanks, Vince

Both great cigars at their best but the Especial has a more complex flavour, smoother, richer experience.
PigFish Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 I think both cigars are tops. I move around and buy one or the other depending on the deal that is being offered. I smoke them depending on time frame. Personally lengthwise (smoking time wise) I prefer the #2 but that in no way impugns the Esp. !, it is a statement of economy. While I also enjoy the Monte #1 (the lonsdale) these two cigars are really in a class buy themselves. The fraternity includes the Cohiba Lanceros and CE, and of course the SdC Partagas. You cannot go wrong with either cigar. I may have just talked myself into smoking one!!! Cheers, -Piggy
shrink Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 I have always believed that the No. 1 and No. 2 share the same blend, but what do I know? The differences may very well result from the effect that length has on the smoking experience. I smoke more No. 2's than No. 1's, but that's mainly because of time constraints. When I have a leisurely afternoon, I love the longer Especial.
PigFish Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 I just wanted to bump this thread. There are still a few of us "skinny" lovers left around the woodshed and I wanted to see if a few others might chime in. I say, buy a box of each! -Piggy
daboose Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 I'm working through a box of the Especial No.2's and really enjoy them. Definitely plan to give the Especial's, No. 1's & 3's a try. These remain on the radar screen for the future. The No. 5's are on the menu more frequently since time is a premium.
maverickdrinker Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 love smoking the especials when i have the time. Fantastic cigar
