tmac77 Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 Fantastic idea! With enough notice I could set it up so there's a roller there, plus let them know how many sticks we want to buy. I'm sure there's a cigar-friendly place in walking distance too... I went to Correnti's today. The owner was not there but their head roller, Titi, was and she took my wife and I on a little mini tour. two other rollers rolling Robusto's and # 2's with their 15 year old leaf were hard at work. No need to find a cigar friendly place close by as you can actually arrange to use the lounge at Correnti's after hours. Bought a few cigars and bumped into "CK" from here in the forum!! Will try and post some pics up later.
tmac77 Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 By the way, the after hours Correnti lounge is a BYOB.
maverickdrinker Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 when does the after hours open? Is there a cost to use the facility? This would be great venue to have an cigar HERF.
tmac77 Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 not sure of the full details as the owner was not around. After hours on a Sat. is after 6:00. I doubt that you would have to pay much, if any at all to pay to use but I imagine that they would like you to buy a couple of their cigars. Pretty rude to just use their place without dropping a bit of coin.
ckearns Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 It was too funny running into Tmac and his wife yesterday and it was a pleasure to meet you two. Our talks about Corentti's peaked my curiosity so much, that I had to swing by and check it out for myself. Its a pretty cool little place and the ladies who were there were super friendly. Its also one of those places where you think you've travelled back in time and the aroma in the place is mouthwatering. I picked up a couple of their Anniversary Petit Coronas (apparently their anniversary products are made with 25 year old tobacco Really?) to try and then headed on my way. Worth a visit for sure.

Great to have met you also CK. Also a ditto to you in that place taking you back in time. Did you see that wall of all the old cigar bands? I took a picture and will post it up later. Tom

CanuckSARTech Posted March 14, 2011 Author Posted March 14, 2011 Sounds cool, fellas. I'd love to do Correnti's - sounds like an interesting place. But for now, let's roll with this get-together on the 26th of March at The Drake. Then, if you guys (whoever) is able to get more info on Correnti's, let us all know the details about doing a potential Correnti's tour and whatnot at this get-together on the 26th. And we can use any info/hot-inside-ticket that you have gotten, in order to get a private group thing going at Correnti's to make the plans for a nice spring afternoon thing. I think it'd be good fun to work it out for sometime in April or May maybe, and work it out for a nice 2 or 3pm tour and whatnot then. We could take all the time in the world, enjoy our time at Correnti's. Have a nice afternoon to enjoy their place, try out their lounge, have some great smokes. Then, after-after hours, maybe work our way to Remy's for a great outdoor supper and a nightcap (another possibility too). Either way, lots of ideas to work on, to have some great get-togethers this spring. Looking very much forward to this one, and many more, gents. Cheers.

I agree with the above. lets focus on having our meet at the Drake for this one. Next time we can do Correnti's.
Puros Y Vino Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 Agreed. The Drake this time around and Correnti's in the near future. I never knew Correnti's had a lounge area. Those of you who have been there can lead the charge on this one.
ckearns Posted March 14, 2011 Posted March 14, 2011 My suggestion of a Corentti's outing was for a future meet up. I wasn't trying to change the great work you guys have already put into arranging our meet up at The Drake. Apologies if it came across that way. I'm looking forward to the 26th. Should be a great time!

Should be a great time! No worries gents. That was understood at least by me. What Keith, Stephen are I are doing is "informal". These Toronto get togethers are not sanctioned or sponsored by FOH/Czar. FOH is merely the channel in which to communicate it. Anyone here can whip up a local event and promote it. If anything, the more events. The better! Those of you who have an "in" at Frank Correti's are encouraged to set something up. Open up a new thread and see where it goes. I for one am excited to see so many Toronto folks on this forum. Our last Drake turnout was pretty good. I'm thinking this one will exceed it.

Murri Posted March 15, 2011 Posted March 15, 2011 Just joined this forum a few days ago. Sounds like a good time was had by all at the last one. I'm from St.Catharines and would like to attend but must pass on this one. My wife and I will be returning on the 27th from a vacation in Cuba. To all a good time. Murri

Puros Y Vino Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 Okay, we're days away from our second FOH Toronto event. So far, eleven of us have signed up. They are: bundwallah CDNeh CanuckSARtech tmac77 CKs DonPedro canadianbeaver blackham maverickdrinker ebhead nacho We need to confirm numbers with the Drake, so reply to this thread or PM CanuckSARTech, CDNeh or bundwallah ASAP if you're not on that list and wish to attend. Puros Y Vino Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 Please count me in if I'm not too late. Just recently joined this forum and would welcome the chance to meet some of you guys and smoke some stogies. Welcome aboard Mike. It's not too late. I see you've just joined. If you haven't introduced yourself yet to the board go to Newbie Introductions forum. See you this Saturday.
Puros Y Vino Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Okay folks. Tables are booked in the Drake's Lounge for dinner. We can have pre-meal cigars on the cafe patio out front or the rooftop and then continue after we've dined. Twelve people have confirmed. That does not mean we won't accept more but the logistics might change a bit. So if you're interested and your name is not on the list from my previous post let Keith, Stephen or I know ASAP. See you then!!
