hoyopr Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 Hemsworth you might like this arrangement of Black Napkins, I believe it is Jean Luc Ponty on Violin at this show, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VdOFdnCnwJ8
ajgagnon Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 I recently saw L'Orchestre D'homme perform Tom Waits and it was stellar. There are YouTube clips but it really doesn't do them justice. Waits, Prine, Citizen Cope, some other blues & roots (Dylan, Taj Mahal, Fred Eaglesmith), Reverend Horton Heat, lots of jazz.
buster Posted February 11, 2011 Posted February 11, 2011 I listen to almost everything, with a few exceptions (most rap, techno, cw except some classics like Patsy Cline, Johnny Cash). Some highlights off of iPod: Miles Davis, Mingus, Airto, Stones, Beatles, Zappa, The Band, Aimee Mann, Michelle Shocked, Dylan, Bruce, Rahsaan Roland Kirk, Handel, Hayden, Mozart, Saint-Saen, Buddy Holly, Steely Dan, Todd Rundgren, The Who, Lou Reed, Warren Zevon, Ry Cooder, Ricke Lee Jones, Nat King Cole, The Kinks, Sousa (who doesn't love a good march?), Elvis Costello, CSN&Y. Rick

Very nice, ultra-mellow version. It's good to see so many FZ fans here! I got to see him in concert back in '84. Not my favorite era...but at least I got to see him.
hoyopr Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 I was fortunate to get to 3 of his shows in the 70's and early 80's in Vancouver. Have gone to 2 of Dweezels shows and the one a couple of years back had, TB on drums for a couple of numbers as well as Napolean MB and Steve V also on the stage. Dweezel nailed Black Napkins that night you would have sworn it was Frank.

I really need to check it out. I'd love to see Bozzio and Brock. I was only the tender age of 12 when I was introduced to FZ in 1980. In New York opened my eyes to what music could really be about.
Hemsworth Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 I love Bock's performance here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odpliVxBOx0
Babaloo Posted February 12, 2011 Author Posted February 12, 2011 I love Bock's performance here:http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=odpliVxBOx0 NICE , Just downloaded a few songs on my ipod . Cheers
Coolio Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Pink Floyd, Radiohead, Dire Straits, Split Enz and Crowded House, and my favourite from the last few years, John Frusciante (was in the Chili Peppers, then out, then in, now out again!). He is an awesome songwriter. Also love the Faith No More album Angel Dust, from '92. That record in my humble opinion, seriously rocked.
Hemsworth Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 NICE , Just downloaded a few songs on my ipod . Cheers That is an excerpt from the "Dub Room Special" dvd. Really good performances on that dvd from 1974 and a 1981 Halloween concert. I just noticed that there is a slew of dvd concerts released on dvd! This might cut into my cigar money...
warren516 Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Very diverse range in my collection.. its easier to say what I dont like. Country... I dont like country! Currently lI'm istening to the brilliant Rodrigo y Gabriela! Thanks for post this clip. These 2 are just awesome. I checked on youtube for some more and they cover "wish you were here" by pink floyd, one by metallica.......just beautiful.
Hemsworth Posted February 12, 2011 Posted February 12, 2011 Here is some fantastic summer smoking and drinking music! Manuel Galbán and Ry Cooder. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oRyIwmKTfKw
micha Posted February 15, 2011 Posted February 15, 2011 Strongly depends on my mood. Basically almost everything from howling Blues, grungy Rock, melancholic ballads, stuff with a 60s and 70s vibe to feelgood surfer sounds. Here's a short excerpt in no specific order and a lot of blanks left out... Black Keys, John Butler Trio, Jack Johnson, Beatles, John Lee Hooker, Ray Lamontagne, Pearl Jam, Bill Withers, Donavon Frankenreiter, Pohlmann (German Songwriter), ALO, The Kooks, Red Hot Chili Peppers, The Frames, Mumford & Sons, B.B. King, Neil Young, Damien Rice, Jimi Hendrix, Pink Floyd, RATM, Arctic Monkeys, Beatsteaks (Band from my hometown, Berlin), good old John Barry stuff, Led Zeppelin, Maximo Park, Rory Gallagher, Soundgarden and the list goes on... One of the few things you could chase me out of the house with is Phil Collins
