Just need to blow off some steam. I'm pretty much a weekend only smoker so I dream of Fridays smoke all week. Well my plans seemed pretty great...skin out of work early, head to my garage, start brewing a batch of beer in the beautiful -3 degree, sunny weather and light up a great smoke.

Well damn you to hell, CAO.

I grabbed for a CAO Italia Ciao and eagerly lit her up. Right away I spot a bit of unravelling in the wrapper. No big deal...I won't let that ruin the master plan. Well it smokes like a raging **** on a cold morning. The taste isbland...even bitter at moments. It needs a relight within the second inch. It canoe's like mad through the first 2/3 of the smoke. I end up cutting it and relighting it. Now, just in the last third everything settles down and it actually finishes okay.

Hopefully this is just the black sheep of the bunch. Thanks god I only paid $30 for a 10 pack. I know the obvious solution is to pitch it now and light up a stand-by...but my stock is low and I have some buddies coming out tomorrow. At least the brew is going nicely.

Well...thanks for listening. I feel better already. Before anyone says it...I only have one CC in the humidor...a MC #3 that I just picked up yesterday (for $25...I don't know why that makes me chuckle, but it does).

Warren.

ummm I don't mean to sound insensitive and condescending... but I've had weeks where every cigar I had was problematic and troublesome.... if you get more seriously into cc's you'll get thicker skin when it comes to problems. It's par for the course!

Yes I'm sure. I was just REALLY looking forward to this smoke. Besides being completely laughable when compared to the problems around the globe...it was merely a petty rant/ converstion starter.

I can relate. Saturday's my cigar night and I think about it all week. I've noticed that if I work a plugged or loose cigar I can't immediately switch to another. It's like my palate is shot and the next cigar doesn't taste right. In that case I consider myself done for the night and just live with the disappointment. I take the imperfections in stride and live for those rare truly great smokes. ;)

I figured that it was finally time today to dig out the driveway from the 14" of snow that's on it as we're all getting a little cabin fever from being inside since Monday. Since I can't smoke in the house, I too take advantage of every opportunity to smoke when I'm outside, and today it hit a new extreme as it was 23 degrees and snowing!!

Given the conditions I certainly wasn't going to reach for anything good, so I hit the singles drawer and pulled out a Honduran Sancho Panza. I have no idea where I got it or how long it has been in the humi, but I was pretty surprised with it. Not only did it burn better than I imagined (even correcting itself at one point), but it actually tasted decent.

My wife wondered out loud to our 12-year old son on how dad was doing on the driveway and his reply was "oh, he's sitting on the porch smoking a cigar". :D

That's fantastic! I've yet to bring myself to smoke while running the blower, but I suppose I should give it a try. maybe one of these CAO's will turn out wonderful as well.

I think I might break down and give it another go. It feels like the right thing to do.

No blower here unfortunately--we don't typically get this kind of snow. It has been 40 years since I've seen on like this. Oh yeah, my back and shoulder hurt like hell!!

Sounds like a job for some single malt!

Ditch the CAO, and grab a Boli.

I agree with the above :-p
