Hey FOH Canadian Football Fans!

It's time for the Playoffs in the CFL - Let's run a Playoffs Pool! Here is my idea.

There are 6 teams in the Playoffs

EAST

Montreal Alouettes

----bundwallah - Upmann Mag 50 , PSD4

----bigfunkyg - HdM Churchill, SLR Serie A

----canucks6024 - RyJ Ex #3, Monte #1

Hamilton Tiger-Cats

What I propose is this. Post on this thread and Pick your team to win it all in the Grey Cup this year. Entries will be accepted until 1 pm EST on Sunday the 14th of November, when the East Semi-Final game kicks off.

When you post your pick to win in all, Also Include in your post your 2 Cigar prize. That's any two single cuban Cigars. Let's make them 2 different cigars, to make it interesting. Also, try not to put down a couple of cheapies - unless you think your pick has no chance whatsoever!

I will compile the picks on this thread under each team - so we have a record of who picked what. At the end of the Grey Cup, whoever picked the team that won the Cup wins all the posted cigars, those who didn't win must then send their posted cigars to the winner. If more than one person picks the winner - the cigars will be split up - with the first person to pick the winner getting first pick of which cigars he wants. One caveat - to save on postage, you must pick pairs of cigars, IE you can't take one cigar from one guy's post, and another cigar from somebody else's post. Make sense?

If nobody ends up picking the eventual Cup winner, everyone keeps their cigars, and we all laugh at how freaking wrong we were.

I'm keen to participate but I'm a bit unsure of the Format. If multiple people pick the same team (I see two votes for the Stamps already) how are ties broken?

Here are my picks:

East Semi - Hamilton over Toronto in a close one

West Semi - BC over a lifeless bunch bunch of Saskatchewan Roughies

East Final - Les Alouettes give Hamilton a good beating

West Final - Calgary finally puts an end to the BC non-sence

Le Coupe Grey - Montreal over Calgary. Burris craps the bed and proves again that he can't win the big game. Cavillo lights it up and retires on top.

I will check the stash but I can put up a 2001 Hoyo De Monterrey Churchill and 09 Saint Luis Rey Serie A.

To answer your question - For teams that have multiple people picking them to win - the tiebreaker works as follows. The cigars wagered by the teams that didn't win are up for grabs, and are divvied up equally. The chronological first person to have picked that team that won picks his cigars that he wants as a prize, followed by the next person to have picked them, etc. No team can have more than half of the total people playing picking that team, that way we aren't splitting up groups of 2 cigars that people have put on the table. IE - Nobody else can pick Montreal right now until we get at least one more person to pick another team, as we have 6 players and 3 picks of Montreal.

So say for instance that Montreal won, as things stand right now. Bundwallah, bigfunkyg and canucks6024 win the 6 cigars that I, rckymtn22 and CigarCanuck put on the table. Bundwallah, since he picked Montreal first, gets to choose which pair of cigars he wants, mine, rcky's or Cigarcanuck's. Then, bigfunkyg picks which pair he wants of the two left, and canucks gets the remaining pair. The losers send their wagered cigars to the winner that selected them.

Hopefully that makes sense - it does in my head! Remember, you can change your pick too, between now and Sunday 1 pm EST, if you don't like the pick you've made or want to make a change!

Well, we are down to the final two in our playoff pool - The Grey Cup will be Montreal vs. Saskatchewan in a rematch of last season - let's hope the Roughies remember their counting skillz for this one!

So, if Montreal wins, each guy that picked them can pick one set of 2 cigars that they want as their winnings, in order of having picked them. If the Roughies win - then we all feel stupid for not having picked the winning team, and nobody wins anything!

Second, Congrats to all who picked the correct winning team in the 2010 Grey Cup! Now how it works is the first person who picked montreal (bundwallah) will choose which of the three sets of 2 cigars he wants, mine, rckymtn's or cigarcanuck's. Then bigfunkyg picks which of the remaining 2 sets he wants, and canucks gets the last set left. It's up to the winners to send their shipping info to the person sending them their cigars!

Except for the whole losing part, that was fun! Let's do it again next year......

We should do a CFL pool next year like the NFL pickem pool but we can figure that out later.
