am actually smoking a R&J Wide Churchill right now. A third in and will detail my thoughts a little later.

For those that have tried them...your thoughts?

I've smoked two so far.

The biggest thing that shocked me about them was the draw - how did they manage to make the draw so easy on them?

I enjoyed them, but the dimensions threw me off a bit. It feels odd to get over two hours out of something so short.

I'm still waiting on mine to smoke... share your thoughts, Rob!

But i too am concerned about reports about the draw on these... i really, REALLY dislike loose drawing cigars.

I'm going to be smoking my first one of these tomorrow or Thursday - already in my Cigar Caddy at work for the week. I got two from a BOTL on here in a generous trade ( :P ), from a March 2010 "MUA" box bought at a LCDH. They're still obviously a bit young and still fresh, but I was figuring on smoking one this fall, and then the other next spring or summer, to see how they stack up.

I'm honestly...a bit worried. :o:blush:

I've always been a fan of R&J, but their latest offerings have kind of underwhelmed me, and even some standards are becoming more and more "blah" it seems. Also, while I like robustos and corona gordas, I find that once we get past the 50-ring-gauge, it just sort of gets excessive and even uncomfortable to smoke. I'm worried about draw, too. A bad cut on a robusto can easily lead to a windtunnel effect, so this thing has some hoops to jump through for me.

Will keep an eye on this thread, and share my thoughts once I have one this week.

1 at La Casa Del Habana Nuremburg(did you ever make it there Trevor?).... the staff was pushing this stick hard. Boring, zero complexity...did I say boring? Bland, very dominican

I've smoked two of these . the first one was about a month after the release at the festival del habano XII and I liked it. The most impressive thing about it was the ash, it held on right up untill the band, from what I remember the flavor was good too. I didn't find it bland. The second one I don't remember much because I had an argument with my father in-law while smoking and because of the circumstance I don't think it was very enjoyable. I still have the original wide churchill en tubo from the festival del habano but I don't think I'll smoke that one right away.

I've found it to be a nice meaty smoke. Lots of typical RyJ flavours but richer. Its a monster gauge and not a cigar to be rushed. I like them.

I have had some enjoyable ones but today's failed me.

The draw was so loose the poor bugger could not develop any sense of complexity whatsoever. It was cheated of any chance.

That is the problem with large format cigars....if you are suffering through a substandard one you are suffering for a long time. In the end I had to pitch over the Czar deck because I was starting to get angry.

It was picked up by a local vagrant about an hour ago and I hope he has better luck with it than I did.

ROFL :D

Rob there's your solution to any Open Eagles you're holding. Let the vagrant earn his way by making some pants for Ken to wear during the reviews. Pay him off in MOE's.
