capnshazam Posted August 12, 2011 Posted August 12, 2011 Never trying scotch before I bought a sampler of johnnie walker on vacation last year it had black green gold and blue liked the green the best. Although to me blue was the smoothest. I'm probably going to annoy someone but I mixed them all with ginger ale. I couldnt have more than a couple of sips straight

You can even mix the Green. I think Gold tests best on its own chilled. Blue however is best enjoyed neat. Still you bought the drinks, you should be able to enjoy it however you please. Like cigars...to each his/her own as you are the one consuming it.
JohnS Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 Ok it may be an old thread but I got into researching this bottle today as I knew it was discontinued in 2013. If you happen to have a bottle lying around, hopefully unopened, these are going for around $AU450 to $AU500 with strong interest/demand. As a comparison, these were selling for around $AU60 before being deleted.

sengjc Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 My favourite of the JW releases - sadly now discontinued and heavily overpriced on the secondary market. It is different in the sense that it is a "vatted malt". Other variants of this that I have tried is the 180 Cask Selection which appears to be a duty free exclusive back in the day. Another sterling release. As for real JW blends, the old Gold Label Centenary Release from the earlier batches (when they still used cork instead of the twist cap) and earlier batches of Premier are excellent as well. I won't say much about the King George as that is in a different league. Mind you, it is a good drop that one - just the price to value ratio is hard to justify. If that is not an issue for you, by all means indulge.
fokker4me Posted January 19, 2015 Posted January 19, 2015 It is far from worth that price. If you can find it for what it should sell for I'd pick it up but I would not pay that for it.
