mtw Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Excuse me if this has been covered before, but has anyone noticed any difference in quality construction between cigars in a 50 cabinet vs the same brand/size in a 25-stick box?
CBL Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 I don't think there's any difference in construction, but I have noticed that the cabinets age a little better (from the ones I have tried/compared) Also you don't get box pressed cigars with cabinets
bob25 Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 If I could afford a 50's I could tell you but as I read many times people like the 50's cabinet because not only they age better but from some reason the aroma is better and the cigars are much more tasty.
Colt45 Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 As the guys have mentioned, there should be no difference in quality of construction between packaging types. I guess they'd have to make a conscious effort during QC or sorting for that to be the case.
Dbone Posted September 6, 2010 Posted September 6, 2010 Dress boxes of 25 can make the cigars "boxed pressed" look, square. This depends on how tight the box is filled. Cabs or SLB keep the natural round apprearance. Besides that, they're all picked from the same lot of finished product, construction, blend, and materials are all the same. The roller has no knowledge if the cigar being made is going into a cab or 25 dress box. In most cases there's not much of a price break for buying a larger quantity, in fact the cabs can carry a premium (costing more than purchasing 2/ea 25 boxes)
