mmacleod Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Well here goes, my first review. The Cigar, a Diplomatico #2, from a single, so I don't know the box code. Construction: Excellent! Aroma cold: More Straw than barnyoard. Draw: A little firm for my liking, but tolerable, not like most Montes I've tried lately. Opening: Toasted tobacco, not much else. 1st third: The toated tobacco quickly died off, and the sweetness came to life, and lasted throughout the cigar. Flavors of sweet creamy vanilla and chocolate. The "Oreo" cookie, delicious. 2nd third: The sweetness remained, but the flavour switched to cedar, and a cinammon shortbread cookie. Also delicious. Final third: The sweetness persisted, and I was really enjoying this cigar. The flavour changed again, moving to a sweet toasted coconut, reminding me of my days at University, living on toasted coconut donuts. Absolutely delicious, and the varrying flavours kept my attention. Smoking time: 1.5 hours, the weather was superb, around 22 C and hardly a breath of wind, the sunset was glorious, and the cigar just complimented the evening perfectly. Accompanying Drink: Big Rock Traditional beer, an English Brown Ale style beer, made by a local micro-brewery. Impressions: Fantastic cigar, few I have smoked rival the flavor complexity of this, nor the identifiable flavors. A wonderfull cigar to finish of the week and welcome the Canadian Labor Day weekend. Rob/Smithy, if you find a PSP or HQ box, I would take one. I may not be able to smoke them for a while as winter is coming, and a 1.5 hour smoke won't work, but for the times when it warms up, one of these would be a welcome treat. Thanks for reading my first review. Mal
mbrody Posted September 5, 2010 Posted September 5, 2010 Great first review Mal! The Dip 2 is my current #1 regular production pyramid. I find it to be a very interesting smoke...
nonameno Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Hello Mal, Wonderful review! It surely sounds like a tasty treat. I too am dreading the approaching winter and the cigar smoking ban which accompanies it. Thank you for sharing, Curtiss
hoyopr Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Nice review, haven't had a Dip2 for a couple of years, smoke the 3's all the time but will need to pickup some more #2's.
Charltonc Posted September 11, 2010 Posted September 11, 2010 Florida has plenty of places to smoke inside and out, come and visit. I love Sarasota.
