laficion Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 the Frenchman, Jean Clement, creator and maker of the brand "Juan Clemente" in the DR, has just passed away in New Orleans while participating at the IPCPR cigar trade show. Here is the news from CA, May he rest in peace. http://www.cigaraficionado.com/Cigar/CA_Fe...44,3236,00.html
CanuckSARTech Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 Someone told him they "retired" James Suckling. [seriously though, it's always sad when an industry giant passes, especially in this time of special interest groups assailing the industry.]
Scardinoz Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 This man honestly was not given enough credit for the changes he spurred onward in the non-Cuban cigar industry and, indirectly, in the Cuban cigar industry.
khomeinist Posted August 13, 2010 Posted August 13, 2010 That is unfortunate. Hopefully something was arranged at the trade show to honor him. I always felt that his cigars were much better than several more popular Dominican brands.
