Decided to play some online poker and a deep stack tourney. Its a warm and balmy evening that may bring some rain. Wanted to smoke something fairly large as I hope to be playing still once it is gone. Rummage around in the humi and my eyes linger on my box of 2007 Sig VI. Its rare when I smoke so I wanted something a bit more special. Finally settled on a single 2004 Sig VI won while playing poker on FOH. Got my little computer up and headed out for the balcony.

Prelight - slightly squashed foot from transit, silky smooth milk chocolate wrapper. Not visibly oily, but you can feel it on your fingertips as soon as you pick up the cigar. Appropriately spongy and a rich smell on the nose. Can't quite place the flavor.

Poker - Rough going in the early rounds. Raised with QJ suited, missed flop, bet anyway. Called. Fired again on the A river and was check raised. Folded. Down to 4k in chips.

Picked up KK only to have it fold around . . . damm

Finished up initial post and time to light up! Clipped with my Xikar and found a pretty stiff draw, but not unmanageable. Toast and when ready take a nice slow draw. Cool white smoke, not a lot of flavor. I want to say light toasted bread or the Cohiba "grassyness" I don't smoke enough (esp not cohiba) to recognize it automatically.

Next several hands all mediocre. I go timid after blowing a big stack of chips early. Course would have flopped 2 pair, open ended straights or trips each time. One of those nights already. 4k and holding.

Pick up AQ suited in late position. Raise, get one called. Flop an A. Turn brings me a flush draw to go with top pair and my check raise is folded. Back up to 4.7k

Its so still outside, in between hands I am puffing slowly and watching the white smoke waft straight up. City is fairly quiet as its about 8pm and I live just a few blocks south of downtown. Love it!

Just under an inch in and the smoke is getting creamier. Still not a ton of flavor, but the body seems to be just a tad under medium. Small nasal exhale gives a bit of milk chocolate.

KJ off in late position. Raise to 180 and three callers. Flop comes 3,Q,J rainbow. Bet 300 one caller. Turn Q. Check and villain makes it 700 to go. Decide to call. River is a 7 and check check. He shows J8 and my K kicker takes it down. Back up to 6k

I like this thread... it has real potential... and is suspensful ;)

Where do you live Bob? I dont recognise that skyline, though that building does look somewhat Sears Towerish.

Into the second third. Nice razor burn starting to pick up stronger chocolate notes, still creamy like a nice white chocolate. Strength creeping to above medium. Overall I am a tad disappointed thus far as I had high hopes.

Cards are flying now. Knocked out a short stack with KQ vs KJ on a 9,9,K flop. Two hands later turned a straight and knocked out a player with 10Q on a 10 high board. AK next hand gave me another shot, but folded to a 3.5k shove on a missed flop. Still sitting pretty with just under 11k in chips.

On an interesting note, got moved to a table with Trishelle Canatella a Real World participate who posed in Playboy and is now a poker pro. Too bad its online. Course a quick google search . . .

Stood up to take a bathroom break and felt a bit light headed. Body closer to medium full. ;) Better grab a quick bite before continuing. Flavor wise still muted. Next draw brings the slightest bit of sweetness maybe honey, a touch of wood, but some harshness on the finish. Time for a purge as we approach the final third.

Not much going on in the game. Second large PP (QQ) in the BB gets folded around. Small pot with 88 when opponent folded KK face up on a A high flop I bet into. Promptly lost that and more with AK hearts. Trishelle opened for 700, I made it 1500 and she flat called. She check shoved 6.5k over my 1.2k c-bet on a 3d,qd,7s flop. Damm woman. Holding at 10k which is right about average.

For those wondering. 157 total players down to 81.

Into final third. Smoke volume is significantly lowered, chocolate/honey/cream all gone. Predominantly wood with a tannic finish. Still underwhelming, but the overall smoking experience out here is fantastic.

Holding steady at 12k. No real hands, position and well timed bluffs keeping me alive. Our pro is out though. Lost a big chuck on two pair to a higher two pair then shoved K10H into KK for the knockout.

Cigar ended with a whimper. Still wood, but increasingly bitter. Put to rest with about an inch and half left. Sad to say, but it just did not live up to the hype. Very mild flavors. However, big thanks to El Prez and the Czar crew for the opportunity to try the oldest Cohiba I have ever had.

I ended like the cigar. Pocket 4s into an A high flop, bet through until the river brought a second A. Down to 5k. Shoved from the big blind pre flop with 22 on a raise from the button and doubled back up when his A2 missed the board. Back to 10k. Next hand called the shortstack for his last 2.5k with A8 spades. He had 45 spades but caught a 4 to double off me. 3 hands later 88 against 1 called to the flop of QQ5. Check check. Turn brought a 2 and I checked raised all in. Q10 and I am out in 55th place. Poorly played last hand. Tried to get fancy at the wrong time ;)

Oh well. Fun night. The cigar/poker review was a great time as it gave me something to do between hands and also caused me to smoke slow. Hope you enjoyed and wil do it again sometime! Night FOH

@ Rob, yep it is the Sears. Good eye Rob! I am just a few blocks south of downtown Chicago.

Loved the style and format of your review...like the cigar too, but sorry to hear that yours was a dud.

Nice review. I know your neighborhood well. I used to date a woman who worked at Columbia College. Ahhh. Gotta dig up that number.

I love the Siglo VI. Great late afternoon smoke. Sunset. Contemplation.

Trishelle....haha.

Great review. Wish I would have checked it out earlier and caught some of the suspense. I love poker but only get the chance to play once every 6 weeks or so. I never play online. If I did I'm sure I would get hooked and the wife and kids would not be happy. Love the view too.
