gmoney Posted July 1, 2010 Author Posted July 1, 2010 This is what I ment about the difference in the letter I's.....look how the font is different
Trevor2118 Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 As a slight thread hijack.................have a look at this a Dec 09 box, with the old and new seal.......but blank where the bar code should be.
gmoney Posted July 1, 2010 Author Posted July 1, 2010 is that just a quality control issue? Trevor...do you see the difference in the letter "I" one looks like a roman numeral....the other doesn't one box from 08 one from 09
Trevor2118 Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 This is what I meant about the difference in the letter I's.....look how the font is different OK, I see now. It is a different font, but still a letter....however not a single box I have has used that font style.....they all have the straight |. However this in itself does not prove anything.....others may have further input and comment.
dochowl Posted July 1, 2010 Posted July 1, 2010 As a slight thread hijack.................have a look at this a Dec 09 box, with the old and new seal.......but blank where the bar code should be. I've got a box of AUG '09 Bolivar Gold Medals that I acquired from a "trusted" source. This box has the same blank warranty seal as yours, Trevor. I initially questioned it, but have since smoked 2 of these cigars and they are spot on. Something seems odd, but who am I to worry about it. If they are fake, then they are damn good fakes. (Actually, haven't ordered from this vendor since, until I am convinced I didn't get fakes). And the other thing I noticed... the green color of this particular warranty label is noticeably darker than any of the other new labels I have. And to save everyone the time of having to write it out... "PURCHASE FROM THE CZAR AND YOU WILL NEVER HAVE TO WORRY ABOUT THE AUTHENTICITY OF YOUR SMOKES." Agreed completely, but sometimes I like to mix things up and take some chances.
nonameno Posted July 5, 2010 Posted July 5, 2010 Hello Trevor, So, what is your thought then regarding your Dec 09 box with the two types of labels and the missing codes? Is this legit? I have a similar box dated Feb 10 with the old and new labels, where the new label is void of bar code numbers. Thank you, Curtiss

I think we need to ask Rob to check with his Cuban sources. Curtiss...please PM or email (do not post on forum) the name of the seller. So far only a single dealer's name has come up regarding blank seals
rp99pts Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 The reason some of the boxes we get are blank where the serial number is supposed to be, is because the vendor cut's it off prior to shipping so the boxes could not be traced back to them should they be intercepted by customs. Quite common thing to do
rp99pts Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 As a slight thread hijack.................have a look at this a Dec 09 box, with the old and new seal.......but blank where the bar code should be. The vendor cut off the serial number at the bar code area. Look close you will see a cut mark
Trevor2118 Posted July 17, 2010 Posted July 17, 2010 The vendor cut off the serial number at the bar code area. Look close you will see a cut mark Hi Robert, We may be at cross purposes here. I have highlighted the blank section of the new seal. You can see that the seal is not cut off but it is blank. See also a new seal with the bar code shown below. Rergards Trevor.
rp99pts Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 Hmmm..That is interesting. The sites I order from in Europe often cut the bar code off and the cut mark is quite obvious. Here is a pic from a box of 10 Luisitanias..My cut mark is pretty clear. Sometime my source cuts off the serial number and sometimes it is intact. I do enjoy running my serial number through the habanos site and read the Genuine Product info..

Given that these seals were intended to "self destruct" if tampered with, the bar codes should not be able to to be peeled-off. I will have a closer look at my box. Interesting.
rp99pts Posted July 18, 2010 Posted July 18, 2010 Thanks Trevor, let me know if your boxes do have a cut. On a couple of mine, the cut is perfectly along the edge of where the green on the seal is making it dificult to see. Chris

On a couple of mine, the cut is perfectly along the edge of where the green on the seal is making it difficult to see. Chris Hi Chris, My boxes have bar-codes on. The other photo shown was forwarded to me for comment. Trevor.
CanuckSARTech Posted August 7, 2010 Posted August 7, 2010 OK, I see now. I agree. I see what you mean with the letter "I" - one is a straight "Arial" typeset version, and the other one is a "Times New Roman" style with the cap on the top and the bottom. I too have never seen anything other than the straight "Arial" version on warranty seals - either on the ones in my humidor, nor any that I can recollect seeing in stores or in Cuba, I have not ever seen a "TNR" style lettering.
