This box has evolved nicely. I recall more strength and less flavor, with a few moments of "wow this is strong" during the first year. Now, they have shown some amazing examples, with one reaching 93/94 territory.post-4436-1277604483.jpg

I started this off with an old friend, DFH 120 (08 is sooo sweet). post-4436-1277604597.jpg

Moved outside and the pre-light is rich, floral tobacco. You really could just draw at cold for a while...damn tasty cold! But she opens at medium and exhibits flavors and a complexity that mix leather, exotic spice, cedar and light floral with a little touch of cream. The flavors mix and exchange on each draw. post-4436-1277604862.jpg

The second third takes all the flavors from the first and blends them together into one main flavor. The strength starts to build and near the end of the second third, we're medium full and approaching a tangy point where you may think this smoke needed some more sleep, but she just then winds down enough to keep in line. post-4436-1277605049.jpg

The final third calms down to just under medium and the pleasant flavor in the second third remains to the nub. It was not the best of the box (maybe could have used a little dry boxing) but it is an easy 89, borderline 90 post-4436-1277605244.jpg

These JL2's have legs and should continue to improve. My patience will be tested.

Nice review...while I'm not a JL fan, i can certainly appreciate your like of the DFH 120. Love it during the winter time. So much so that I will buy it by the case.

I reviewed the jl 2in the forums today. The one I had, which I don't have a code or date for, was very lack luster for me and I gave it an 86. Flavors died in 2/3 and so did the body. I am learning what a difference a year can make on a box, thanks!
