not at all, shrink. quite the contrary. provided one limits the electorate to half a dozen "faceless men" who control factions in the labor party or unions, then democracy is alive and well (and if it prevents abbott getting anywhere then it has a small silver lining).

and don't tell me this doesn't go on in the states - i've seen '24'.
