leaving aside the fun of last night, two queries for nsw fans.

the first is that your blokes left ennis and hayne behind by accident and they had to catch cabs. how the hell is that possible? no one noticed? your star player missing and no one happened to think where the hell was he? that seems to be a team in absolute chaos.

next, and not wanting to assist but why does no one mention peter wallace for you? played under injury last year for a game and did quite well. he is tough as nails, far and away the best defender in the halves in the comp, top kicking game, runs at the line, thinks, is still young enough to play most of the next decade and can play half or 5/8 (was a 5/8 pre broncos but had to shift for lockyer)? am i missing something?

why do you keep going to blokes like kimmorley and barrett, good as they might once have been? even if they put in stellar performances this year, they are gone next year and you have to start again.

off top of head,

why not a team like -

f/b - hayne

wingers - duggan/idris (perhaps morris but he has not shown much) and perhaps even duggan at fullback and hayne on the wing.

centres - lyons and jennings (next year you'll have gasnier which will be fine as long as he doesn't have to mark that great qlder, inglis - you'll also have stewart if he is not locked up)

halves - wallace and pearce

lock - watmough

hooker - ennis or possibly farrah (and make farrah capt if selected)

props - weyman/white/king/kite? (take your pick and one or two on the bench otherwise)

2nd row - this is tougher as you have so many but none really step up. i like creagh - then if there is not a top young kid, anyone from gallen (we don't mind that), o'donnell, hindmarsh, hoffman, minichello, la franchi, stewart, bird, learoyd-lars. there must be someone i've forgotten.

bench - gidley as he is so versatile, then three from the props/2nd row.

not sure that all helps the forwards a lot but it has to be a better backline.

(go the whitewash)

ps - the first people to go should be your selectors. then that carr idiot. then bellamy.

of course, you could always make an inspired decision and name johns coach for next year, just to piss everyone off (great team plan that, make inglis angry).

The NSW captain starts on the bench. End of story.

Mind you I reckon that if you put NSW's best players on the field, bribed the ref and had some injuries on Qld team then Qld would probably still win (Origin 1 this year anyone?)

Reality is that Qld has champion players and a champion team. NSw tried to play dirty last night and still lost. Mind you the result was so inevitable from the rubbish from the NSW assistant coach this week that I did not even bother to watch it live - just the 6x and 12x fast forward on the recorded version.

Until the QLders retire / move codes NSW will lose series with the occasional win

NSW might win Origin 3 in a couple of weeks because the Qlders will be partying till then - which will do no more than lull the NSW team into a false sense of security for next year.

Plus I reckon - without any basis whatsoever just suspicion and conjecture - that Qld will be penalised hard in game 3 or some action wil be taken to even the field because the TV gods cannot have Qld smash NSW again - it has to be a NSW win or a close game to generate interest down here for next year. Mind you I doubt there will be anyone there to watch it anyway and seriously with the rugby world cup next year and AFL signings, league might have some problems here.
