My brother has found himself in Israel for the next month or two, an he's insufficiently stocked with cigars. Having found the Israeli taxes on cigars not to his liking, he's considering driving to Egypt or Jordan for a cigar run. Anyone know anything about Jordan or Egypt?

As I know both in Egypt and Jordania in main stores cigars not in good conditions - they looking dry and lost... May be in Duty Free only. Good luck!

Or you could pick up some Egyptian cigars.

A friend once gifted me some Egyptian cigars (can't remember what they were called), after taking a trip to Egypt. Didn't bother lighting them up.

But it's the thought that counts, so I kept them in the humi for a very long time. Made sure she thought I was smoking them. Threw them out one at a time (as if I was smoking them).

I understand the duty free stores in Beirut and Dubai airports are quite excellent. Perhaps not within reach from Israel? Probably overkill to fly there only for the cigars, especially as there are no direct flights from Israel...

4 LCDH at Dubai airport, so real gems there if you have a good dig around

Jordan Duty Free Jabal Amman only good place in town: I even got a Cuaba Piramides E.L. 2008 last time I went there in april, as well as any Trinidad vitola. Also ALDEASA Duty Free in Queen Alia Airport Amman worth the visit: I bought a 25 Partagas Lusitanias Box in january.

Both have the cigars stored in proper humidors-like rooms.

The only reachable Arab countries from Israel are Egypt and Jordan.

He can do three things:

* Fly to Egypt or Jordan and use the Israeli duty free in Ben Gurion Airport.

* Send him cigars.

* He can order online and get it to where ever he's staying in Israel but note that the cigars might get Customs attention and the tax is hell.
