dicko Posted May 18, 2010 Posted May 18, 2010 Hello. I tried this from the czar 'mix and match' singles, only had one but for what its worth.. Appearance - No pic sorry. But very good looking, nice choc brown/dark leather look. attractive goldish watermark. some fine veins running across and down. 10/10 Initial - espresso, very spicy through nose. 1st - very espresso -burnt toast (good way) - 'bbq' grill plate -emitting some thick, very white smoke. 2nd- hints of cocoa here and there - hint of a unique flavour, like a coconut, milk powder also some hints of mint. - some rough, burnt flavours some puffs - generally a dry, clean profile, but some harsh draws. 3rd- milk coffee - some paprika spice through nose (similar to my dip 4's) Overall- a very interesting smoke. i liked that strong espresso and toast flavours. it had some rough edges. If anyone can tell me what these are like with some age I would be interested to hear...? That 5 minute stage about the start of the 2nd third where that mint flavour popped up really made this for me. Rough edges knocked off some points but a solid 89. Thanks for reading! Dicko

finecigar Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 Nice review- just a thought, next time try adding a picture. I guess I am a visual kind of person but I enjoy reading your review as well.
gersonmorelli Posted May 20, 2010 Posted May 20, 2010 It has been a long time since I smoked my last SCDH... I thoroughly enjoyed the Principes and Mercaderes. As I recall, they had a great fruit sweetness as a major characteristic. I have a couple of young La Puntas in my humidor and will give it try this weekend.

PADDYWHACK121272 Posted May 22, 2010 Posted May 22, 2010 Nice review. Had one of these yesterday from a Czar singles sampler - was a cigar of two halves - first was nice, mild to medium coffee / creamy tobacco - second half this flavour continued and developed more complexity however the strength came from nowhere and I basically ended up stoned - not something I look for or enjoy to be honest - reminded me of a partagas 898 ie. fine smoke but handle with care!
