135th running of the Preakness goes off in a few hours at Pimlico.

KY Derby winner Super Savor is the favorite, followed closely in the odds by chief rival Lookin At Lucky, as well as Paddy O'Prado (who showed for 3rd in the Derby).

All three look pretty strong against a much smaller field than the Derby... and without the speed horses to set such a blistering pace (for the Derby day mud, anyway). I also like Triple Crown newcomers Yawana Twist and Aikenite to figure in the trifecta.

Caracortado and Pleasant Prince could be surprises, but I left them both out. 'Hope I don't end up regretting that decision.

I just missed a $3600 payday on my Derby trifecta wheel (right numbers, the wrong way around) and had to settle for a Show bet on Paddy O'Prado that hedged half my investment. Hopefully today will be a better day, though I'm not looking for such a big payoff, unless (maybe) Yawana Twist comes on top.

I can't see Super Savor winning the Triple Crown prize, but could take down these first two legs. Ice Box is out for the Preakness, but will return for the Belmont Stakes and should keep Super Savor honest in the NY race.

My other trifecta on tap for for today is a San Cristobal Principe, followed by a Monte #2, with a Partagas 8-9-8 capping off the triple. If ever there was a sure thing...

I, for one, am not going to bed against super saver(calvin). I'll throw a small bet down
