JL PC

GAS Sep 08

Feel: Firm with no soft spots.

Appearance: Very nice smooth wrapper, small veins.

Draw: A bit tight.

Burn: Nice straight burn line down to the nub, grey-white ash, held on to its ash. This burn most impressive of the whole experience.

Body: Medium, a bit spicy especially in the retrohale. Retrohale more flavorful and enjoyable than the conventional blowing the smoke out of your mouth. I make this distinction because I find a considerable difference in flavor between retrohaling and exhaling the smoke out of my mouth. For each puff, I always retrohale in the beginning then retrohale the rest. (My sinuses get more flavor than my taste buds...yah call me crazy but that's me)

Flavor: Pretty one dimensional, so did not break down this review into thirds. Having said that, it wasn't without enjoyable flavor. In fact, there was pleasant sweetness along with nuts and toffee notes.

Overall impression: This is a decent to good cigar, not great. I felt content with it. Not an occasion cigar, not a cigar to complement a good meal, nor a cigar to smoke with the company of good friends and good spirits. Just, "okay, that was alright." One to smoke in your garage by yourself while watching the Iron Chef on TV (as I was doing). Now, the Juan Lopez Seleccion No. 1...that's a different story.

Only my second review so take it for what it's worth. Just another chap (not an afficianado) putting his thoughts to words. If you are on the fence on buying Juan Lopez Petite Coronas, hope this helps in your consideration.

thanks mate. I've only had the juan lopez no 2 and enjoyed a roasted nuts flavour which looks like you got too in the PC. I really want to try the #1 is that much better??

I found the JL #1 with much richer flavors and more complex. There are leather components in it as well as a darker earthy flavor as its base. Nuts and sweet flavors such as toffee and bitter sweet honey nuances hit me too.
