Thanks for the opinions guys, really much appreciated and helped a lot...

Upon reflection over the weekend and digesting all your responses I sent a very firm letter with my intentions clear that if they arent willing to replace the unit I will take action. I am not a litigious person at all, in fact this is my first ever complaint about anything...

If it didn't injure me, a repair would be fine... I just don't want a machine back that caused me any sort of injury.

In a bit of a twist over the weekend I got a call saying my laptop had been completely repaired and was ready for collection. I didn't consent to any repairs and in fact explicitly said nothing was to be replaced or repaired. I went a grabbed it and signed nothing, all that went in the email also.

Wonder if they did the repair anyway to cover up any problems within the laptop in case you were planning on taking further action...best of luck to you.
