  1. I'm still stuck with singles here and there. Australian tobacco tax is killing my desire towards a box purchase . But then again, there's plenty of opportunity in Australia to earn nicely so it will even out in the future I hope.
  2. I would love to come but I'm in the middle of my "stop smoking everything so I could continue smoking only cigars without cigarrettes" project, and to come and not smoke is impossible. Hope to see some pics and I'll be there next time definitely
  3. Thanks for the suggestion Jai. Unfortunately I still don't have medicare (I am entitled to it since last month but have not gotten around to get it) so I dont have my Dr etc. There's an urgent reason to get medicare as soon as possible, I'll look it up soon. Thanks again. edit; Just realised that last sentence sounds wrong. What I wanted to say is that I now have a reason to get medicare as soon as possible, so I can get that Champix.
  4. When you guys quit Cigarrettes did you stop smoking CC's and for how long?
  5. 35. "The only place I get hurt is out there. The world don't give a **** about me. " The Wrestler - 2008 A faded professional wrestler must retire, but finds his quest for a new life outside the ring a dispiriting struggle. Director: Darren Aronofsky Stars: Mickey Rourke, Marisa Tomei and Evan Rachel Wood Why Should you watch it: Because like Hemingway's The Old Man and the Sea, is not about the Wrestler the same way it's not about the Man and the Sea, it's about pain. It's about life hurting you. 34. "You have not much future there. It will happen this way. You may be walking. Maybe the first sunny day of the spring. And a car will slow beside you, and a door will open, and someone you know, maybe even trust, will get out of the car. And he will smile, a becoming smile. But he will leave open the door of the car and offer to give you a lift." 3 Days of the Condor - 1975 A bookish CIA researcher finds all his co-workers dead, and must outwit those responsible until he figures out who he can really trust. Director: Sydney Pollack Stars: Robert Redford, Faye Dunaway and Cliff Robertson Why Should you watch it: One of the best conspiracy theory thrillers, an benchmark. 33. "I'll be back" Terminator 2 - 1991 The cyborg who once tried to kill Sarah Connor must now protect her teenage son, John Connor, from an even more powerful and advanced Terminator. Director: James Cameron Stars: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Linda Hamilton and Edward Furlong Why Should you watch it: Because it's stil fun. 32. There's an exit back this way. Noodles, go through it. Keep walking. Don't turn around. Once Upon A Time In America - 1984 A former Prohibition-era Jewish gangster returns to Brooklyn over 30 years later, where he once again must confront the ghosts and regrets of his old life. Director: Sergio Leone Stars: Robert De Niro, James Woods and Elizabeth McGovern Why should you watch it? Because it's the most epic story of a friends betrayal. 31. Every civilization finds it necessary to negotiate compromises with its own values. Munich - 2005 Based on the true story of the Black September aftermath, about the five men chosen to eliminate the ones responsible for that fateful day. Director: Steven Spielberg Stars: Eric Bana, Daniel Craig and Marie-Josée Croze Why should you watch it: Because professional killers have never been more realistically put on the movie screen. Also because it's (to a degree) true. 30. It's like seeing someone for the first time, and you look at each other for a few seconds, and there's this kind of recognition like you both know something. Next moment the person's gone, and it's too late to do anything about it. Out Of Sight - 1998 A career bank robber breaks out of jail and shares a moment of mutual attraction with a US Marshall he has kidnapped. Director: Steven Soderbergh Stars: George Clooney, Jennifer Lopez and Ving Rhames Why should you watch it: The Coolest film ever. Period. Also, to see the time when there was a Jennifer Lopez, a good actress, not J.Lo a mediocre singer.
  6. Thanks for the support guys. I had my last cigarette yesterday morning, spent the rest of yesterday not smoking, wanted to see how I'll feel. I got pissed of easily all day long (almost broke my wife's hairdryer because she left it again turned on in the bathroom, next to the shower) and I slept for 2 hours during the day, which I never do. This morning I woke up my whole body begging me to light one up, that's when I opened up this thread. I went to the pharmacists, got the nicotine patches and nicotine gum. After that I went to my local park (50 meters from my home), I smoked one nice Upmann Mag 46 single that I had, telling myself while I smoked it "This is why you should do it, quit cigarrettes and you can enjoy these properly" and 2 minutes ago I came back home and put my first nicotine patch on my arm. I'll tell you all how it goes.
  7. I moved to Sydney from Serbia friend. Less than a year ago I used to smoke in the Bank, Post office, University....not to mention clubs/restaurants. And now I am forbidden from smoking on the street. I'm experiencing a culture shock:)
  8. Thank you friend, and all the others. I'm going to the local pharmacists right now to see if they have patches/gums and that sort of thing.
  9. I managed not to smoke 10 days some two months ago before falling back and lighting up During those 10 days everytime I had the urge to light up, I opened FOH and looked at the members galleries of CC's and told myself "Just hold on a little bit more and this will be your reward" I never tried patches, I'll read about them now, see how they work and where can I get them
  10. I live 100 meters from King Street, walk there, have a coffee and/or lunch everyday. First time I hear about it, smoke all over the street every single day
  11. I'm trying to quit smoking cigarettes. There are number of reasons. First one is CC's. They are so damn good, cigarettes smell awful after CC's. Difference is like between night and day. Second reason is connected to the first one partially. Cigarettes cost me some 500-600 AUD a month. With that money I can almost buy 2 boxes of fine Cuban Cigars from Czar every month. It just seems a waste of money now to be spending it on cigarettes. And lastly, Australia is not really smoker friendly country. Especially when you compare it with Serbia where you can smoke wherever you want. I feel like a nicotine slave running around, looking for a break/place to smoke. Anyone here smoked and quit cigarettes?
  12. No earthquake experiences, dont know if it counts but earth did move, and all of my windows broke back when my city got bombed for 3 months back in 99. Since then my cat gets really really scared every time there's a thunderstorm
  13. Oh, I'm aware of that friend. I read here on this board how a lot of people make that mistake, as I said in the previous post So my first humidor will definitely be for 4-5 boxes + a drawer or two for singles, 3/5 packs. And lucky indeed I am. All of the members of this board are very knowledgable and it has just the perfect balance of general talk, socialising and cigar talk.
  14. Well I did find some that would seem to be alright for under 200 dollars, but they are mostly for 50 - 75 cigars which I think I'll fill really fast. So my plan is to not buy a humidor until I decide to buy a nice corner table like humidor that can keep at least a couple of boxes/cabs inside. Until then, tupperware, at least that's the plan. About the temp, that might be an issue during the summer but I'll try to manage it the best that I can. And I am reading as much as possibly can about the cigars. Thanks to this wonderful forum I already learned so much. Calibration kit will arrive together with the beads and hygrometer but thank you very much Karl, appreciate the advices/guide. I'll probably need it in the future anyway
  15. Hey guys, so I'm slowly starting my CC obsession and I just have a couple of questions to ask. First off, humidor. I read on a couple of places, including foh, that tupperware is better than a cheap humidor. I can't justify spending the money for a nice humidor yet (just started working) so I decided to go with the tupperware route. I got a small (7 litres) container, I'll buy a bigger one later, this one is just for start to see how it all works out. I ordered Heartfelt Beads, ordered half a pound. By my calculation half a pound is enough for a 70 litres container so one quoter of a pound will be more than enough for me. So, when the beads come, I put one quoter of them in that bag that Heartfelt also sent me, I spray some distilled water on them, but make sure that at least 30% of them are not sprayed and I put them in the plastic container and that's it? I also got the digital humidity thing. There's nothing else I should do. Just spray distilled water every 2-3 months, once a week open the container for fresh air and it should all work fine? Secondly some suggestions. Till now, I tried mostly singles, I'll tell you what I loved and what I didn't like that much so hopefully you could suggest some CC for me. My taste sense is not nearly enough developed so I can't really describe in detail but I'll do my best. Monte 4 & 5: My first proper CC's, before them I smoked while I was in Serbia cohiba's but I was in most cases really drunk in a night club and I didn't really know what to do, how to smoke or anything at all. Since I came here in Sydney, I bought Monte both 4 & 5 in a pack of 5's. And my second Monte 4 I smoked while eating chocolate pudding and that taste, of Monte 4 and Chocolate pudding was the greatest thing I have ever tasted in my life. I don't know if those kinds of things go together but I do know that they absolutely should. At that moment I knew I'll be smoking CC's for the rest of my life. Anyway, Monte 4 and 5 now in retrospect are alright. Although one Monte 4 was absolutely terrible for some reason. I also smoked 2 Trinidad Coloniales and 2 Reyes. I love them. They are a lot more "smooth" or kinda "milky" when I compare them to Monte 4's and 5's which are a lil bit more "rough". Cohiba siglo II was even more on a "smooth" and "milky/silky" side, but I didn't like that alot, I prefer the strong "finish" that both Monte and Trinidad seemed to have but Cohiba siglo II lacked, I don't know if that was just that one cigar I smoked or that's supposed to be like that, and it is very nice just not what I prefer. Besides a few Romeo and Julietes and and one Jose L Piedra which I found absolutely terrible I was also blown away with Upmann Magnum 46, it was a really strong, powerful cigar and I loved it, I was fighting with it and enjoying every moment of it. So basically Trinidad's I love, Magnum 46 I love also, Monte's are alright, Cohiba Siglo II great but I don't think it's for me. A friend from Europe is brining me some singles and I plan to buy a box of 12 Trinidad Reyes from Czar in September but what after that? Any suggestions guys? I prefer smaller cigars, the biggest size would be of Magnum 46 that I would like. Just my preference at this time, it will probably change as I become more experienced. And I apologize for my probably terrible descriptions of CC's, I just tried to describe the taste to the best of my current abilities so you could kinda give me some nice suggestions what to buy next.
  16. After all of you recomended it I gotta try it.
  17. JW Blue and j&B are some of the smoothest, easiest to drink. I started drinking scotch with J&B when I was 18 years old, it's smooth, widely available and cheap. Good place to start.
  18. Couldn't have said it better. But unfortunately the problem is with the people, not the Governments. As long as the majority wants to have a Nanny state, Government that will do everything for them, tell them how to raise their children, protect them, tell them what to listen, watch and read people like us will be agitated. And Government control/regulations for all aspects of one's life are getting more and more diverse in the Western World with every year. As far as I can tell, US is still kinda holding on, with their strong national sense of individualism but even they are slipping. And the slipping is done down to road to Fascism, small slipping but still it's happening. With all the control, censors etc, it's only a matter of time before in for example 15 years of 20 years, or sooner, someone comes to power who says "F*ck it, put the opposition websites on the list of censored websites". Now, I am not an Anarchist, far from it, there must be regulations, government control etc, but this is becoming to much. It became to much a long time ago. And the worst thing is the majority is happy. My wife has no problem with it. "Government knows best". Even if she does, I wan't to be free to f*uck up, make a mistake for myself and learn.
  19. Unfortunately that won't be the case I'm afraid These are my favorite movies in general, there are some obscure movies but most of them are very well known. I could make a list in the future of the best movies you probably have not seen yet
  20. Wait and see guys. I already made the list before I started this thread so no suggestions sorry And once more, this list is not going from worst to best, 28 is not better than 97, although I'm saving my 3 favorite movies for last.
  21. Big fan of their music, don't really care about that Wine. I'm in most cases a fan of products (songs/movies/sporting skills) and not of a person so I don't really care about side projects or anything else of that kind certain person who's work I admire does that's not related to that actual work. Including gossip about personal lives, parfumes, drinks, clothing brands with that persons name or that persons opinions and statements not related to his work. For example, my favorite band is Pink Floyd, there music is in the top 5 things in my life in general but I couldn't care less what Roger Waters thinks about anything but Music. Never understood that "ohhh that's George Clooney, he makes great movies, lets listen to him talk about Politics". There are exceptions to that rule, and no offence to George Clooney, maybe he knows more about politics than I ever will, it was just an example. I read somewhere how back in the 70's they asked Steve Mcqueen about something, some issue that was in the media at that moment and he replied something along the lines "Why are you asking me that for? I'm an actor, I pretend to be someone else for a living, what the hell would I know about anything"
  22. Agree. Although my favorite songs are Shine on you crazy diamond and Comfortably numb
  23. I'm more passionate about music then I am about cigars (I play piano since I was 5 years old and In general involved with music whole my life while I started smoking cigars just a couple of months ago) so it's the other way around for me, I don't listen to music while I smoke a cigar, I light up a cigar while I listen to music But I do find that I have the greatest urge to light up a cigar when I listen to some music that invokes certain feelings. That can be feeling of loneliness, melancholy or the "feeling"/"vibe" of leaving things behind, moving on, that sort of thing:) For example: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=S258ZT5DbZY Those two and some hundred more songs, when I listen to them during the night, they just beg me to have a nice drink and smoke a cigar.
  24. 40. She said five minutes, but she'll wait a lifetime. Army Of Shadows - 1969 Director: Jean-Pierre Melville Stars: Lino Ventura, Paul Meurisse and Jean-Pierre Cassel The Movie: Realistic look at the cold, dangerous world of French Resistance in 1942. Why should you watch it: Because both the writer and the director of the movie were members of the French Resistance, there's no glamour for those heroes, no girl to win, no adventure to be had. It's a world of constant danger, betrayal and suffering. 39. If we get jammed up, we're holding court on the street. The Town - 2010 As he plans his next job, a longtime thief tries to balance his feelings for a bank manager connected to one of his earlier heists, as well as the FBI agent looking to bring him and his crew down. Director: Ben Affleck Stars: Ben Affleck, Rebecca Hall and Jon Hamm Why should you watch it: Best robbery movie since "Heat" 38. I know what gold does to men's souls. The Treasure of the Sierra Madre - 1948 Frank Dobbs and Bob Curtin, two Americans searching for work in Mexico, convince an old prospector to help them mine for gold in the Sierra Madre Mountains. Director: John Huston Stars: Humphrey Bogart, Walter Huston and Tim Holt Why should you watch it: Because it's the ultimate "greed" movie, and greed is something all men share. 37. You wanna know how you do it? Here's how, they pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. That's the Chicago way. The Untouchables - 1987 Federal Agent Eliot Ness sets out to stop Al Capone; because of rampant corruption, he assembles a small, hand-picked team. Director: Brian De Palma Stars: Kevin Costner, Sean Connery and Robert De Niro. Why should you watch it: David Mamet wrote the script. Sean Connery plays an tough Irish cop. De Niro is Al Capone. Besides Indiana Jones series the best period adventure movie. 36. I didn't kill my wife! I don't care! The Fugitive - 1993 Dr. Richard Kimble, unjustly accused of killing his wife, must find the real one-armed killer while avoiding Marshal Sam Gerard. Director: Andrew Davis Stars: Harrison Ford, Tommy Lee Jones and Sela Ward Why should you watch it: One of the greatest action movies of all time. Tommy Lee Jones won an Oscar.
