Wine fridge for a humidor...
Diselfitter replied to Tony Maduro's topic in Cigars Discussion Forum "the water hole"
I agree with you Chuck. My set up is a smaller version of what you have. But still very nice. I was all prepared to go out and buy an Oasis to put in side. I am using Humification type beads with an Rh solution adjusted to keep the rh around 63-66%. What I noticed was once the rh% stablized it became very effcient and easy to maintain. I use a small fan in side to kick on a couple of times a day to circulate the air. Deez -
La Gloria Cubana Medaille d\'Or No 2
Diselfitter replied to El Presidente's topic in Cigar Reviews (Text & Photo)
Well I never had one that bad. My experience has been on the one box I bought a while ago with a date of 98. The cigars were almost all too tight. but the ones I had that had a decient draw. I found the cigar to be Mild-medium. Flavors only slight spice to it, with a dominate of Grassy notes some balsa, woody notes. The cigar was not anything spectactular in flavors, had it been more complex I would have considered it as a Mild cigar for say early morning. Or empty stomach smoking. Deez -
Partagas Serie De Connoisseur No 3
Diselfitter replied to Ken Gargett's topic in Cigar Reviews (Text & Photo)
» The Partagas Serie du Connaisseur No. 3 is actually a Carlotas, and I » would say that they are a full bodied cigar from my experience smoking » them. » » On a side note, the Partagas looks a hell of a lot better than a Clint » Eastwood Toscani. LOL... Ain't that the truth Tampa.... the Toscani looked like a dog rocket... I have to say you were the one who pointed me in the direction of the Part. Serie du conn #3. I aboslutely love those cigars. As a matter a fact I smoked one today while outside putting up christmas lights. Deez -

RASCC vs EDRM Lunch club
Diselfitter replied to Mark Twain's topic in Cigars Discussion Forum "the water hole"
Tampa... I have to agree with you on the Comparision/Difference between the two. Hands down I would opt for the RASCC...The ERDM lunch club is ok, but not what I perfer especially in a cigar this size. Great Advice Chuck. Deez -
The most disappointing cigar.....and
Diselfitter replied to El Presidente's topic in Cigars Discussion Forum "the water hole"
Biggest dissapointment: PSD#4...I believe it was in it sick period. What I recall was a soapy taste, followed by a rotting aftertaste. I suffered about 15 minutes of this hoping it would improve.. Wrong.. I had to trash it. The biggest Surprise: I was gifted a Monte Edmundo from a good friend. It was a lil supmtin he brought back from his trips. I held on to it til last summer..I have had the Edmundos before.. and thought they were ok, but IMHO Not ready yet. So anyway I wanted something to smoke while doing yard work. Well this cigar was complex loaded with rich flavors, so much so, I had to stop what I was doing and sit down and relax while smoking this cigar. To this date No cigar has given me such a surprise, in a good way..............Deez -
Hey Don I am glad to see that you made it here. Deez

Partagas 8-9-8 Cabinet Varnished
Diselfitter replied to Ken Gargett's topic in Cigar Reviews (Text & Photo)
Oh Man You guys are Killing me.... I guess I am the odd one out...I love the partagas 898 Varn...it has that nice cocoa, coffee, a little earthness and oh ya.. that spiceyness, not as much say in a PSD#4, but none less I find this cigar to be very enjoyable after days work, Of the 898 varn. I prefer the younger ones as they seem to have a bit more strength, I would say this cigar is a Medium -strong cigar, but as they age they mellow out considerably, not nesessarly a bad thing, but I feel a bit underwhelmed by the mellowness. I would give it a solid 93.......D -

The Elusive Perfect Draw
Diselfitter replied to Ben's topic in Cigars Discussion Forum "the water hole"
I think the guys have hit just about everything I can think of. I keep my Humidor at a steady 65 rh and temp around 68-70 f I have had my share of tight draw CC's. And was always concerned...What I had found, and I am not sure if this is coincedence or what.. The Cigars were always a lesser ring guage, like less than churhill size, or they were from an a lesser Marque. Example...LCG Tainos, from 01 most of them were plugged, SLR coronas, again plugged, ANd down the line I can go. I have never had a Cohiba, PSD#4, Lusi, BCG, or BBF that was plugged, I have had some of them that were too tight , but that was more my fault because I had at ine time uncontrolled Rh from a cheap Hygrometer. I am not sure sure if there is a QA issue with less popular Marques or it was mere coincidence...but it was something I have noticed. -
This is definately one of my favorite cigars...And this is hard to admit because I love Partagas more than anyother marque. But I have to agree this is a great smoke, very smooth from begining to end, Wonderfull flavors of honey, some Vanilla thrown in there, along with some nice woodsy flavors....D

» Name: Trinidad Coloniales. » Length ~ 132 mm » Gauge ~ 44 » Box Date: DTK ABR 04. Name: Trinidad Coloniales. » Length: 133 mm » Gauge: 44 » Box Date: DTK ABR 04. I just finished this cigar this afternoon. It is my first of the Trinidad Coloniales. Construction: Aside from having a crack on the foot of the cigar, it was otherwise perfectly constructed, there were no hard or soft spots, over all the cigar felt firm. The Cap was beautifully constructed ended with the cute little pigtail. Wrapper: The wrapper was beautiful as well. The Color was like light chocolate, or a touch darker than conn. shade. Not at all Veiny almost silk like, with a light oily sheen. Draw: The draw on this cigar is what I consider to be a perfect draw, meaning it wasn't loose, but it was actually firm without being tight, When I smoked this cigar I was able to draw in a good volume of smoke quite easily. Taste: I choose to clip this cigar (as I do most cigars). The foot was toasted as a pre-light ritual. Once the cigar was lit, I noticed immediately that it was very young tasting. It had a certain grassiness to it. I tend to blow the smoke out my nose to get a better idea of what the flavors are. The other flavors I noticed in the first third of the cigar was flavors of wood, coffee, and some peppery spice as well. As I got to about the half way mark some of the grassiness had deminished, but still present none the less. I also noticed at about this point there were hints of Chocolate, and I swear there was for a moment hints of toffee, the coffee flavors were more pronounced, as was the woodiness. As I continued to smoke this cigar it never really evolved beyond what I described. As far as the Burn of the cigar it stayed razor sharp and never needed a relight. Overall Impression: This cigar has great potential. I am confident that after a couple of years this cigar will smooth out and become more complex. Becoming rich, creamy and loaded with lots of flavor. Although I enjoyed this cigar, I think it is still very young and deserves time in the humidor in order to develope. I am ratng this cigar a 91 at this time.
