  1. That must have been quite the experience. I would love to visit one of the champagne houses, Salon especially. I think prices for Salon are crazy everywhere, but with champagne as good and low-production as Salon I don't think that is too surprising. I think dealer cost per bottle is 260 USD, so in the States it is quite impossible to get a new bottle under 300 USD, and aged bottles seem to be worth whatever the vendor feels like selling it for. But alas, it is amazing.
  2. That would be a terrible thing to have happen. But if forced I suppose I would chose Salon; I cannot think of anything that would be worth having over an aged bottle.
  3. I do not usually listen to music whilst smoking cigars, but when I do I listen to rap music, its the most motivational. Slim Thug "I Run" is a pretty good one to light up a stogie to.
  4. To add to the list, besides Padron which is arguably the best NC, have any of you tried Graycliff cigars? I have to say that I quite the Chateau Grand Cru and the Espresso. If you can I would say try a Graycliff Espresso, I personally really enjoy them and think they are on par with the Padron 1964.
  5. Well, now he can buy as many Cartier sunglasses as he wants so he does not have to look at her that much.
  6. I have to say that I have never had a dud Padron. I do tend to prefer the 64's to the 26's though. I had a 45th Family Reserve the other day, and whilst expensive it was an excellent cigar, if you can get your hands on one I would recommend it. I cannot say that I have found much more potent tobacco than Nicaraguan though, the '26's and the Family Reserves do not upset the status quo in this regard.
  7. I am going to have to go with cognac. Remy Martin XO, Louis XIII would be nice...
  8. I was able to snag some Padron 45th Family Reserves at the cigar shop, I cannot imagine it will be too long before they disappear from the humidor.
  9. Cannot say anything bad about Chateau D'Yquem...so yes, I like Sauternes.
  10. I cannot say that I am much of a NV man, but under $60 it is pretty hard to go wrong with VCP, Taittinger, PJ, or Roederer. I will say though, if you have not tried any of the offerings from Nicholas Feuillatte, you should definitely try some. For about $60 though, you should also try some of the more obscure grower champagnes, some of them are far better than their price tag would suggest. If you truly enjoy champagne though, it is worth a foray of sorts into vintages, even the VCP, Pol Roger, or Taittinger vintages can be had around $65-100, and the vintage bottles just below their prestige cuveé is still always pretty good. Aj60s, perhaps it is just me but I would not recommend drinking champagne with a cigar, as I feel the cigar ruins your palate for champagne. That notwithstanding, out of the wines you listed I would most definitely go with the Winston Churchill, but the 2000 is a great vintage of Dom as well, and to your question about more expensive champagnes being worth it: absolutely. With champage your really are rewarded for spending just a little bit more and buying one of the better champagnes from a good vintage. In the price range you are listing, I think you should also consider Krug, the grand cuvee, and VCP's La Grande Dame.
  11. Well if Tom Ford fragrances are anywhere near as nice as his menswear, then it is probably amazing.
