  1. » So now that we are well into the season who have been: » » 1. The surprise packet overachievers. Giants, Packers » 2. The Dismal underachievers. Miami, SF - not supposed to set the league on fire but this? Eagles, Ravens, Rams as well. » 3. Prognosis for your team and why. Cowboys are still looking good, so my Giants can get to 10 wins but will have to settle for a wildcard assuming: - Defense holds up. Thank goodness they are letting loose with blitzes and a strong pass rush in general. D-Coordinator is doing miracles. Still vulnerable at LB. - Oline holds up. Diehl has been playing better than hoped for and O'Hara is damn impressive.
  2. » » You're on. » » » -Geoff » » lol » Nice!! let all who read this post bear witness.. if the cowboys win less » then 11 games, i win! if the cowboys win 11 or more, geoff wins.. After week 6 the NFC East looks like this: Cowboys 5-1 Giants 4-2 Redskins 3-2 Eagles 2-3 As a Giant's fan I can't complain. Thank goodness the D tightened up. As a man betting the Cowboys get 11 wins, I can't complain either.
  3. » » PS-Stay out of Little Italy Not true ... some of the best chinese food in the city in in Little Italy :-D I mention Florios only in as much as you can smoke there. Else I would avoid all Italian eateries down there except noted below. The Malaysian place right next to Florio's is really good. I will go there to eat and then to Florio's for dessert and espresso and a cigar. If you don't like what's on the dessert menu, they will go across the street to Ferrara's and get whatever. Also notable is Di Palo ... not a restaurant but some of the best meats and cheeses in the city. I'll put their cheeses on a par with Murrays. Other than that, Little Itay /Chinatown is good for getting knock off handbags and sunglasses and looking at other tourists.
  4. » Alas, Manhattan has gone completely smoke free. None of the restaurants » have cigar lounges anymore. Not entirely true.... but mostly true Club Macanudo on the Upper East Side: good food, not great, but adequate Florio's in (Very) Little Italy: Say hi to Larry from me and get the stuffed veal chop!
  5. Here's some personal favorites.... a ton of other places as well. Any request for a certain cuisine? This is high end ... will work on "local grub" and other bars. In general, citysearch.com can be helpful Fig & Olive: http://www.figandolive.com/downtown.html West 13st Street Meatpcking District. Mediterranean tapas. Good wine list. (Was there last night) Keens Chophouse: http://www.keens.com/ Tremendous selection of single malts. Good muttonchop and prime rib. Aged Steaks as well The Brandy Library http://brandylibrary.com/sections2007/home.htm In Tribeca, a swanky bar. Great selection of cognac, armagnacs, and calvados. Underrated food. Morimoto http://www.morimotonyc.com/ Iron Chief guy. Go for the Duck Duck Duck Del Posto http://www.delposto.com/home.htm A Mario Batali place. Upscale Italian. Runs about 100USD per person ... maybe more depedning on your taste in wine. Great Service. Crif Dogs (my favorite) http://newyork.citysearch.com/profile/11651062/ East village dive ... great hot dogs ... get the tsunami ... bacon wrapped dog with teriyaki sauce and pineapple. Or the Spicy Redneck... bacon wrapped dog with cole slaw, chili, and jalapenos. Bring your own Mylanta.
  6. » » Philly 10-6? » They go 8-8. » » » » » » » Dallas is still the favorite to win the division at 11-5. » » » That's ANOTHER bet i would love to take... » » How confident are you in BOTH of those ridiculous statements? » » I will bet you the same $100.00 paid to Cigar Czar for the winner to buy » cigars of their choice, that EACH of those statements are false... » » Thats $200.00 you stand to win or lose, with two different bets! » » If you REALLY think Philly goes 8-8 or worse, bet me! » » If you REALLY think Dallas goes 11-5 or better, bet me! » » You SOUND confident, lets see how confident you REALLY are! Pass on betting on Philly. McNabb is too big a variable. Westbrook is the stud on the team and the offense flows through him. If McNabb can make completions and keep the LBs off balance, he run well. The Eagles don't see really good defenses until after the bye week. But I will take you up on the Cowboys! I see their season as follows: 1 Sun, Sep 9 NY Giants Win 2 Sun, Sep 16 at Miami Win 3 Sun, Sep 23 at Chicago Win 4 Sun, Sep 30 St. Louis Lose 5 Mon, Oct 8 at Buffalo Win 6 Sun, Oct 14 New England Lose 7 Sun, Oct 21 Minnesota Win 8 BYE WEEK 9 Sun, Nov 4 at Philadelphia Lose 10 Sun, Nov 11 at NY Giants Lose 11 Sun, Nov 18 Washington Win 12 Thu, Nov 22 NY Jets Lose 13 Thu, Nov 29 Green Bay Win 14 Sun, Dec 9 at Detroit Win 15 Sun, Dec 16 Philadelphia Win 16 Sat, Dec 22 at Carolina Win 17 Sun, Dec 30 at Washington Win This brings them to 11-5. I think 11-5 is a fair guess for the 'Boys although you labeled it "ridiculous." I split the NFC East games except for the Skins. They could lose to the Rams. but they should beat the Jets in Dallas although I listed it as a loser as a buffer. Panthers might be fighting for a wildcard in December and that's an way game. That could prove tough. But who knows what any of these teams look like in week 16. It could be wrong, but I do not think it's ridiculous? You're on. -Geoff
  7. » » Great pics fella's! » » » » Mark...we have been hanging out in the same paddock » » Yeah, I've gained about 10lbs since we last saw each other. I have » to get back into bikini shape for you by Vegas next year I think I just threw up in my mouth a little bit.
  8. Philly 10-6? Since when did Rob start selling crack? The Eagles have a easy schedule with exceptions of playing New England and Chicago. But they will be too one-dimensional on offense with the running game. They go 8-8. The New York Football Giants lost Tiki but went from the toughest schedule in the league to a more manageable one. Love Jacobs but not sure he can carry the load. This is probably the last year of the Eli experiment. If he steps up The Jints win the East. If not it's another 8-8. Dallas is still the favorite to win the division at 11-5. Poor Redskins (screw 'em) are rebuilding at 6-10.
  9. » Came across an old favourite yesterday in Frank Zappa's "My Guitar wants to » kill your mama". » I miss great guitar tunes. Anyone else here love great guitar? » What are your favourite rock guitar "greats" ? Steve Vai, Eric Johnson, and Joe Satriani played this together at a trubute concert. Johnson was fast but too smooth. I think the previous posts covered everything ... almost. I did not see two guitarists that are underrated - Todd Rundgren and Prince. I saw Rundgren as part of a Ringo Starr tour. Jack Bruce was part of the lineup. Rundgren showed his chops on White Room. Prince is a great guitarist. Honorable mention to Steve Hackett also.
  10. I like my wine like my women, ready to pass out. If you're leaving the wine in the bottle and just uncorking it - then its just for effect. A wonderful study was done by some chemist/oenophiles a couple of years ago that showed the change in oxygen content was marginally detectable and then only in the top 1/2 inch of the bottle.
  11. » I've got 4 left of my '99s. They are like smoking chocolate bars! You would have 7 if you had not of given me 3 a long time ago. Actually, you probably would still only have 4 - you would have smoked them like I did. Hard to find out there in the marketplace - ain't they?
  12. in-duh-viduals I sense a Dilbert newsletter influence here?
  13. In terms of creamy armagnac style rums, might I suggest: Matusalem (Nicaraguan) Oronoco (Brazil) La Flor De Cana (Nic?) The Zacapa 25 Centarrio XO is more full bodied and complex. Very good. Had 10 Cane and disliked it. Had a sharp taste to it - almost like it ran into some cachaca on its way. Maybe in a Cuba Libra. The HC Cask strength is quickly becoming my favorite though.
  14. Thanks for the post ... I've all but given up on this cigar. My experiences with two different boxes were that they were all over the road. No consistency even within the same box. Considered that a youth issue. Might reconsider.
  15. » Taboada Grand Corona! WOW! Mark, was this at DocRKS steak herf? Recently, I got a buzz from the last third of a new batch of Robaina famies. Was caught off guard since the first third was non-descript.
