  1. I was wondering what was going on with the prices. I haven't seen a decent deal on Cubans since mid-summer. Unfortunately, I have switched to non-cubans on week days. My stockpile should last 3-4 years and some friend will probably visit the island by then.
  2. I guess I didn't look close enough. Thanks
  3. Opened the canning jars this morning. They have what appears to be old machine mades. The only ones I could ID were the La Corona-Coronas, the others are some old vitola of Partagas, H U and Punch. What is the significance of the red strip on the cellophane, are they 2nds?
  4. The boxes are La Gloria Cubana MdO 1, RyJ 1 tubos and HU Aromaticas. There was also about 100 loose cigars (mostly in canning jars) of which half are HU Aromaticas, the rest I have no idea which vitolas. There is also a sealed box of JR Special Selection and about 50 Filipino cigars. What will freezing do? And by reacclimate, do you mean put them in a humidor with progressively higher RH Bovedas?
  5. Went to a garage sale yesterday and bought a box of Cubans for almost nothing. However, they had been stored 10+ years, the last year they were not in a humidor. Some dried mold. Some cracking damage. The cracked ones were mostly out of boxes. Mold is mostly on ones in boxes. Thoughts? Ideas?
  6. I still haven't tried a Quintero. The JLP Brevas were very good. JLP Cazadores went on sale, so I got two boxes. They are very harsh, I'm hoping a one year rest will help them.
  7. I have seen very low priced Cohiba and Trinidad Shorts, $1.35! I normally shy away from machine made, but at that price, I was wondering if they were any good? How do they compare to other C&Cs?
  8. Last summer I bought 2 boxes of JLP Brevas 2017, they are pretty good. I just bought 2 boxes of JLP Cazadores 2019. The Cazadores are pretty harsh. Do JLPs need 3 years or are the Cazadores just harsher than Brevas?
  9. I love Monte 4, I realize they are on the upper edge of being considered C&C. The Partagas in the photo are Super Partagas, not Mille Fleurs.
  10. Also, I have two boxes of RyJ Mille Fleurs being shipped. I think I'm set for a while.
  11. Two boxes of JLP Cazadores and one of Monte 4s. I also just ordered five boxes of 10 RyJ Mille Fleurs.
  12. Just arrived. I like Brevas. Looking forward to Cazadores tomorrow night!

  13. Chiefs are my favorite non-Cuban.
  14. My daughter and her husband started smoking cigars. I made a starter pack for them.
  15. I'm hoping the Cazadoras are as good as the Brevas. I know I really like Monte 4, but I don't consider them a C&C. My cut off for C&C is <4/stick, Monte 4 are 5.36/stick.
  16. I love Mananitas! I regret not buying them a couple weeks ago when Montefortuna had them for $103 for two boxes. I could only find the 5% promo, I was looking for a 10%.
  17. I know these are probably not C&C, but I am including them because three of each were thrown in to my order, that was a box of HUHC and two boxes of Por Larranaga Panetelas, to make up for a shipping delay. The total of 81 cigars for $206 makes them all C&Cs. I am saving them for a special occasion. I have read good things about the petite churchills, not much about the no.2s. From C&C lovers, what do you think, are the special? I tend to be contemptuous of higher priced Cubans, because there are some really good cheap ones.
  18. I have always wanted to try Raphael Gonzalez. The Perlas seem to get rave reviews. But, at $4+ per stick, I don't consider them a C&C. The Panetela Extra $110 for 25x2 or $2.20 per stick, is in my C&C range. Are they nearly as good as the Perlas? How do they compare to Por Larranage Panetelas?
  19. Thanks
  20. I got two boxes of PLPs for about $2/stick. Very quickly they became my favorite. Not just my favorite C&C, my favorite cigar! They are just so tasty. The draw was an issue, but not insurmountable. I learned to do really sloooow, looong draws. To relish them, I always retrohale. But not the quick reverse snort. No, I let it sloooowly curl out of my nostrils, like a resting dragon that just torched a village. I learned from PLPs that sometimes I have to ask the cigar how it wants to be smoked.
  21. I am intrigued by Peso cigars. I have never had one. How do you get them in the US? No one brings them back, because they don't consider them worth the suitcase space. Are they like JLP or Quniteros? Are any hand made? Anyone have good experiences with Pesos? If they are decent it seems like they would be the ultimate C&C.
  22. I have changed my daily from JLP Brevas to Por Larranage Panetela. I got two boxes last week for $58 each and I love them!
  23. For me, just price. Monte 4s were 144/box, they miss it. Vegueros mananitas 54/16 are definately C&C, Partagas Super Partagas 92 a box, are barely in. I guess I would say under 100/box.
