  1. Now this is a ring guage I enjoy !
  2. Oooo a shaving thread. It's been a while since I posted any of my gear. Currently using a Rockwell 6S safety razor as my go to. Favourite brush is a Wolfwhisker with a White envy badger knot.
  3. Lovely. I need a box of these. Fantastic aftertaste.
  4. Wow. Talk about ignorance. I get the impression they have lived a really rather sheltered life.
  5. Glad this thread came up. I was recently wondering the same thing. Will have to keep an eye out for when the A's appear again.
  6. Not exactly an in depth read but interesting none the less.
  7. Keen to get into the Aus hangout forum ! A mate & I were look at Cohibar, but it doesn't seem to be very well regarded ?
  8. This is delightful. Monte 2 I believe ? Someone please correct me if I am wrong.
  9. Not something I'd ever go for again. It has a very harsh taste for lack of a better word. Other cigars I have tried have certainly tasted a lot more refined. That being said I did get a few different pleasant flavours in there. Need to sit down with the flavour wheel when smoking to get better at articulating what I'm tasting.
  10. How does one get further details on the event ? Seems like it could be a cool chance to put faces to the names.
  11. The wrappers were a bit lighter than I hah hoped for but such is the way when buying blind. Will be on the lookout in 24:24 for some of the red wrappers !
  12. Thanks for all the replies guys.
  13. Do you think cigars taste different dependant on where you smoke them ? I tried a few different cigars whislt in Cuba and absolutely loved them. Since bringing them home they haven't tasted the same at all. They were smoother, more flavoursome, more enjoyable. Has anyone else experienced a similar thing ? I know there are many variables with cigars but whilst I enjoyed them in Cuba, they aren't as enjoyable back at home.
  14. Two samplers from El Prez. Excited to have these chilling in the humidor. The collection begins.
  15. Those glass jars are stunning ! An awesome piece to have in the man cave.
  16. Great thread. Certainly glad I opted to buy a box and samplers. It would suck to burn through some of the one off's before they had a chance to really shine and show their true colours.
  17. Hi All, My hygrometer finally arrived so it's time to get it calibrated for the imminent arrival of cigars. Is it completely necessary to use distilled water for the calibration process ? I didn't have any last night so instead I used tap water but this morning I am finding I'm not getting the reading of 75% I should be. Instead it's coming out around 69%. Happy to go and buy a bottle today but just wanted to check. Thanks.
  18. Hmm interesting topic. I thought maybe it was just due to tight draw. Interesting to see that even he most experienced of smokers still debate it.
  19. A Cohiba Esplendido that I recently brought back. Unfortunately a really tight draw but still nice.
  20. A nice glass of Laphroaig 10. Oddly enough when I first opened the bottle this year it really smelt/tasted like cardboard. Very stale. Having worked through half the bottle it no longer has that taste but has become nice and peaty. Interesting to see the flavour change for the better as a result of oxygenation.
  21. Bummer to hear about the price hikes in Cohiba's ! Enjoyed the out takes section of the video. Good fun !
  22. I think just politely tell them that not all cigars are created equal and it would be best to take this complaint up wirth the local store. May even use it as an opportunity to highlight the fact that with the online stores affiliated with FOH there are quality control measures in place to avoid such things happening to customers. Knowledge provided + Sales Opp.
  23. Now that is sweet. One day I hope to build something like that. Well done.
  24. Thanks for all the replies. Looks like it's going to take quite some time to figure out exactly what I like. Will be trying to source petit coronas as a means of comparing the different brands as at least a starting point.
