  1. I got a box of the A's from the 12:12 sale a while back. Haven't cracked into them yet. Kitchen Confidential is a great read. Read it last summer while on vacation, too.
  2. Started the day on the deck with an '09 Fonseca No. 1 and lots of black coffee. Then paid my dues by taking the girlfriend shopping. Watched some baseball while smoking an '11 Siglo III, and finished up the night with an '07 Mag 46. It was a good 3 cigar day here on the chilly East coast of the US.
  3. Predictions: 3 QB's go in the first 11 picks. Manziel slides to Minnesota. Houston - Clowney St. Louis - Watkins Jacksonville - Robinson Cleveland - Bortles Oakland - Mack Atlanta - Matthews Tampa - Evans Minnesota - Manziel Buffalo - Lewan Detroit - Barr Tennessee - Bridgewater
  4. Fresh out of the freezer. A bundle of Monsdales and a bundle of Monte No. 2 with double ligero. The Monsdales were rolled by Eduardo Mons, Enrique's son, while the No. 2's were rolled by a torcedor from La Corona who rolls Monte 2's there. Letting them rest more will be a true test of my patience.
  5. I recently bought some great sticks off of Geoff. He is a very generous brother and a deserving winner. Congrats too all!
  6. Nah. It's a girl. I cropped her name and picture out of the photo for privacy sakes.
  7. It's a shame that of the few females in the hobby nowadays, this one got a fake. Hopefully, it didn't turn her off to the hobby completely.
  8. I just checked the 2 boxes I received this week from the recent 12 deals. The Dip 2 box has a round black sticker on it. I know that the HQ's have a red sticker, because I bought a HQ box of RASS recently and it has that on it. So, black is either PSP or PE, not sure which because I only recently started buying from FoH. The other box of Hoyo Short Piramides is void of any round sticker. Regardless, I'm happy with the way the sticks look.
  9. I agree with your thoughts on Nics and Doms. That caused me to make the switch to Habanos too. Welcome aboard!
  10. Great indroduction! Welcome aboard!
  11. Welcome! Yesterday it was 65 degress here. Today it's snowing!
  12. Maintaining as much anonymity as possible when buying Cuban cigars is important to me for reasons I would rather not go into here. I even go as far as to have my packages shipped to my girlfriend. And yes, she's aware of the risk, but also understands the need for me to do that. Shipping to her mitigates the biggest risk, but the paper trail left behind when using my credit cards to buy cigars is concerning to me. So, I've been looking into Bitcoins as a form of payment when buying Cubans. Unfortunately, only one Cuban cigar vendor currently accepts Bitcoins for payment and that vendor is considered dodgy. So, I'm weighing the risk of buying from them versus the peace of mind that being completely anonymous will give me. Is accepting Bitcoin something that *****IT is considering and are there any plans to accept them in the future? Being a former small businessman, I know the fees that credit card companies charge businesses. From what I've read, Bitcoin's transaction fees are a fraction of credit card companies, so there's a cost savings benefit to the seller. And at the same time, the buyer would have their anonymity. Seems like a win-win for both the seller and the buyer.
  13. Most of my collection is comprised 1 through 3. I have a lot of time to smoke, so I guess that means I have a good life?
  14. You must have the steadiest hands around!
  15. Nice way to get your feet wet. I picked up a box of Epi Especials, recently. The vitola is a little more to my liking.
  16. Agree. Even my noob CC palate can tell that these haven't peaked yet. I've been putting off buying a box because they seem so plentiful, but I might have to now.
  17. RIP. Being a noob to CC's, I only recently learned who this man was and made arrangements to obtain some of his signature cigars (even though they're no longer rolled by him).
  18. Looks amazing, man! Congrats!
  19. My first box of Grandiosos arrived from D'wnunder.
  20. My second box from our fine host here at FoH. JL #4's PRA July '10. My credit card company makes it difficult for me to buy stuff from overseas vendors sometimes, but with Diane's patience, we eventually get it sorted out. The minor inconvenience is worth it when I receive sticks that look like these!
  21. Welcome, from a fellow ACC'er! Well, for a few more months, anyway.
  22. Welcome. And congrats on making the transition from lurker to poster.
  23. I took the advice of many here and didn't buy RASS blind. I picked up one of last month's Hand Picked HQ boxes. I'm glad I paid a few extra dollars because these look and smell fantastic! My girlfriend even commented about the smell when I was opening the package.
  24. I use single cigar ziplcoc baggies. These serve two purposes. One, I can write any pertinent information on them in sharpie and two, they protect the cigars since I like to rearrange a lot. For smaller cigars, I trim the excess off.
  25. Hello, gents and ladies. I'm glad I found this place! A little about my cigar experience. I have spent the past three years building a collection of non-Cuban cigars. Chasing those unicorns and hard to finds. You know them. The Ligas, the Tats, the store exclusives, etc.. Being in the US I really didn't know how to source Cubans, but one day I discovered OLH and started buying them. I soon realized that I preferred them over NC's. It wasn't the forbidden fruit factor that attracted me, I was blown away by their smoothness and flavor profiles. As time went on and I got more experienced, I started losing interest in the chase for those HTF NC's and started wondering why I was even chasing them? I was also getting disenchanted with the way manufacturers manipulate the market and the gouging taking place online and in B&Ms. This came to a head recently with the Quesada Espana Lancero limited release. A local B&M received one of the only twelve boxes made. I stopped in to pick up a few of these sticks that carried a MSRP of $8.50. The owner quoted me a price of $18.50 each! That was the final straw for me. I had an epiphany. It was right then that I decided to stop chasing those NC's and smoke CC's exclusively. Then the selloff began. Over the past few months I have liquidated my NC collection. Going from 600 sticks to 50, leaving only some Opus and Padrons remaining which I'll sit on for a few years and eventually smoke them. Now I'm working on learning about and building my CC collection. I'm over 300 sticks now. A lot of them purchased from members here (I recognize a few names from OLH). Last week I placed my first order through *****IT. A box of HQ RASS from the Jan/Feb Hand Picked Cigars thread. This was my first of what will be many future purchases from them. My second order will be this weekend, taking advantage of that 15% off sale. I can't bring much in the way of knowledge to this board since I have less than a year of CC smoking under my belt. But, I am looking forward to learning from the experienced members here. I hope I didn't bore you too much with my background history. I just thought that I would give a proper introduction instead of just saying "hello". Thanks for reading. I look forward to chatting with you all out on the forums.
