I only smoked one before today but it really did rock my jock. Drink pairing: Arak. It's my favorite drink to mix with cigars. It has a strong liquorish flavor. It's clear but you mix it with water and it turns white. It's the perfect strength for mixing with cigars in my opinion. Pre draw notes: lots of sweet spice and toastiness Initial thoughts: sweet spices and light sour cream First third: sweet spice and creaminess with a little bit of toasted tobacco on and off. Some notes of sour cream here and there. Second third: in the beginning of second third some fruitiness. Mostly still cream and spices. Final third: the fruitiness went away. Mostly the same as the second third but got very sweet at the end. Final score: 94

Your last Never Fail Box of Cigars?

Probably RA Superiores. I've had a good experience with a box of JL2 from the great run of 2 years ago. Never got another box though. -
When A CC behaves like a bad spliff

This happened to me once when I left a cigar in my car on a hot day. I think (correct me if I'm wrong) heat can cause this sometimes also. -

Distinctive blends
kb20four replied to jacksfull's topic in Cigars Discussion Forum "the water hole"
I haven't gotten that flavor but I'm still a newb. I usually can pick out only the more obvious flavors. I avoided Upmann for a long time until recently because the first box of RRs I got were disappointing. I smoked one Mag 46 out of a box I bought recently and I already ordered another box. -
Distinctive blends

Although I've only smoke two Upmann cigars, the Royal Robusto and Mag 46, the Mag 46 was unlike any other cigar I've smoked. It had that sweet cake-like flavor that I've read about many times here. That's the most unique flavor I've experienced from my little experience. -
Happy Birthday Di!!! Wish you the best.

I baught this box about 6 months ago so they were already aged when I got them. I've never smoked a Partagas Short before so I can't compare it to a younger one. I smoked about 5 out of the box and they all tasted and smelled like burnt hair. I'm hoping today's will be better. Here we go. 1st third: From the first puff this cigar taste completely different from the other examples. It starts off with a distinct sweet spice note and about halfway through the 1/3 it picks up a cream flavor while still keeping the main sweet spice. 2nd third: The second third continues the way the first ended. About halfway through the cream starts to fade and a light tobacco flavor takes its place. The main flavor is still that sweet spice. Final third: The tobacco flavor dominates in the final third but the sweet spice and cream come and go until the end. Construction: I was very impressed with the construction. It had a perfect draw with a lot of smoke output. I didn't have to touch it up or relight it even once. It had a razor sharp burn throughout and the ash would hang on about 1 1/2 inch at a time. All around I really liked this cigar and now I understand why they are so loved. Rating: 90

The traffic is horrible here in LA and there was a lack of taxis but they came out with this new transportation service that you call with an App on your phone. They pay the drivers through a third party using your credit card. It's called Uber. If you do decide to revisit LA you should really check it out.

Humidors, what do you all have?
kb20four replied to Redsoxnat's topic in Cigars Discussion Forum "the water hole"
I've got the same one but the humidity goes way too high with the open humidifier. I use 65% beads instead. -
Upmann RR... I've only smoked one box when I just started smoking and they were all either plugged or tasted terrible. I was storing them at way too high RH and the bad taste was probably from that but I haven't tried them after that. Its probably unfair for me to hate them, since it was my fault, but the bad first impression turns me away from revisiting them.

There are great cigars in NCs too but only people who actually could tell cigars apart from one another smoke them. I think you just don't have as many people show you real good cigars as much in the U.S. than internationally. I used to smoke the same NCs because they were rated high on CA. One day I went into my local B&M in the US and I tried a new cigar for a change and I randomly ran into a great cigar. I think it's all marketing.

I live in Los Angeles so we don't really have a regional food. We would start off with rascc and Macallan 12 year old scotch. Then for dinner we would have lamb shanks with rice, baked lamb chops on the side, salad. After the main corse some fried shrimps. With the meal it's your choice of either Stolichnaya Elite vodka, or continue with the Scotch. After dinner we would have Cohiba Lanceros or Trinidad Fundadores.
