  1. "Well, son, there I was handfishing in the Zambesi, which seemed a reasonable thing to do at the time since I'd already killed about 30 bottles of Stella...." :-D »
  2. » Or perhaps: » » Uhhhh..... who the hell is that??
  3. I've been trying to place the following photo of Rob since it was posted and, now, I think I've kinda got it pegged- John Lennon meets Armand Assante. You be the judge... + =
  4. » Top drawer is well on it's way! » » See those Edmundos at Top Right??? Yes, it's true, I smoked one of those..... :-D I've been thanking him at every place possible but I'll say it here as well. Steelman's one helluva guy and was very hospitable and gracious in allowing me to come into this home as well smoke a lovely Edmundo from his brand new Aristocrat! And yes, it's even more beautiful than the photos give credit for... On top of that, he sent me off with a Pre- '85 ERDM Panetela, a '97 BPC and an '03 BCJ.... both times we've gotten together to smoke, I leave feeling like a THIEF!!! Thanks again, Randy!!
  5. When (combined) thread titles go very, very wrong...
  6. I'm still hoping to make it. (Generally that makes it sound less favorable... ) I have no reason to go other than this sitdown (which I definitely feel is reason enough!) so I'm eyeing the flights from Phoenix and weighing other travel options...
  7. I still intend to be there. That is, if the date's still pretty close to the original.
  8. Ohh, the irony... Just caught one of Suckling's older blogs on the cA site this morning. This one features Edward Sahakian educating James on the benefits and practice of purging a cigar to save it for..... wait for it...... the next day! Anyway, I found it interesting that the same topic popped up here. [link=http://www.cigaraficionado.com/Cigar/CA_Blogs/Blog_Detail/0,4695,256,00.html]Check Out the Technique[/link]... :-P
  9. » » Seriously...I want to know. What are you using or have you used in terms » of » » cutters and lighters that have been bulletproof. What do you swear by? » » Thank you for the responses. I want to chase a few of these up at the RTDA » for Aussie members. We have a hard time here getting access to the » magnificent range of product you have available in the US. I have found in » the past that not all that is expensie is good....Colibri and Prometheus » come to mind. Uh Huh... I was a victim of flashy advertising and bought a Prometheus lighter that now spends a lot of time looking sexy at the house, mostly unused. Only 2 bits of tobacco paraphernalia have never let me down. My Palio and one of the $3 Ronson lighters from the megastore...
  10. West Coasters - I'd highly recommend Adventure Coffee Roasters in Tucson, AZ. Scott's serious about fresh coffee and roasts it to order. In addition, the majority of his coffee's are Fair Trade and Organic Certified.
  11. I plan on being there, regardless of the exact date. It's like a car accident... you just gotta see the carnage...
  12. I still haven't been able to bring myself to splurge on a bottle of Blue Label and so, unfortunately, I've yet to try it. But I will say that Gold Label is one of the best cigar pairings I've had out of any Scotch (Single Malt or Blend) to date.
  13. SLR Serie A, gifted a year ago from fellow FOH'er VigorishSLC. Damn fine smoke, thanks again, Vig!!
  14. » I will have the dates finalised by end of next week. » » Lets just get a location where we can drink, laugh, let our hair down, » tell lies and have a decent bite to eat or arrange a little catering. » » Its the people that you are with that counts Rob, your usage of the term "next week" is very similar to my own. I have a feeling that, between the two of us, a lot of quality bullshitting could happen in Vegas in July...
  15. » » Don't be scared of Phoenix in July. At 120 degrees, the cigars light » » themselves. » » » » Lots of Arizona FOH members too! » » Another vote for AZ...but skip Phoenix and come down to Tucson. Yes, yes, exciting southern Arizona awaits you, Rob! :-P However, I'm definitely open to the possibility of making my way to Vegas for a sitdown... hell, I did it last year in July!
  16. » » Welcome, Chris, from yet another Arizona-desert-dweller! » » I just met-up with a BOTL in Tombstone a few weeks ago and now it looks » as » » if a short drive may be in order again in the future! » » Cheers, » » Sean » » » » Oh, and speaking of introductions, it was nice to meet (quite by » surprise) » » StrayVector in Tucson a few weeks back as well! » » Wow, it is truly a small world, never thought to meet so many avid cigar » smokers in this part of the world. I would love a chance to get together » in the near future with you and StrayVector. Out of curiosity, is there » anywhere to smoke indoors in Tombstone? » » Chris. Unfortunately, the new(er) smoking laws in AZ have just about cut-out most of the nice spots to enjoy your smokes indoors. The place I stopped at was a saloon with an outdoor patio. I think it was the four spades saloon or something with some relationship to card play... :-P Anyway, they had heaters around the outdoor patio but the barkeep wasn't quite able to get those heaters to function properly. In fact, yours truly didn't bring a sweater and was shivering for a time, as I'm sure you've already seen how the desert skies can open-up and let in the cold pretty quickly after sundown. I'm in for a daytrip to Tucson to fire-up some smokes with you and Sam. Just pick a date and I'll see if it'll work! :-)
  17. Welcome, Chris, from yet another Arizona-desert-dweller! I just met-up with a BOTL in Tombstone a few weeks ago and now it looks as if a short drive may be in order again in the future! Cheers, Sean Oh, and speaking of introductions, it was nice to meet (quite by surprise) StrayVector in Tucson a few weeks back as well!
  18. I'll gladly rest on the waiting list for one of those beauties. I was considering an Omega from Cam but a cigar watch? Come on!
  19. As far as clubs go, I understand that Scores is very popular with Aussies... [link]http://friendsofhabanos.com/board_entry.php?id=59125&page=0&category=all&order=last_answer&descasc=DESC[/link]
  20. This is exactly why I make sure everyone around me knows I'm a perverted, drunken bastard...
  21. Welcome Aboard! FYI - Those Fuente Cuban Belicosos become AMAZING cigars if you can let them rest for a few months at a slightly lower (than 70%) RH. They'll amaze you after a short rest at around 65% percent... ;-) I had a splendid Friday afternoon as I was FINALLY able to sitdown at the B&M I frequent in Tucson, AZ. I've been shopping there for years but never had the (wife-free) opportunity to really soak-in the place. Started-off with a Davidoff Grand Cru #1 whilst chatting with some of my fellow patrons and ended my time there with a Dunhill Signed Range Corona. Both were a bit moist as they'd just come out of the walk-in but, since this stop wasn't originally planned, I didn't have any of my own cigars to smoke there. Brought home an OpusX "A" and a Dunhill SR Churchill that I'll rest for awhile.
  22. I've been searching for ANYTHING from D'Arenberg for a year or so now... Just bought a 2005 bottle of "The Stump Jump" Red last weekend and just now found the last two bottles of '04 TFS on my new wine site. Thanks for the hearty recommendation!! ;-)
  23. ... and people like to pick on the Irish for their (alcohol-induced) dim-wittedness
