  1. Currently having a slight modification on the PID to set temps up to 25c
  2. Broke out a Cohiba Piramides Extra tubos from a recent 24:24.....it was fantastic and lived up to expectation. Now to resist the temptation of firing them up before my holiday.
  3. The imitation Game The wolf of wall street And Layer cake Back to the future
  4. I watched them harvesting the swallows nests for the fungus when we were last in Thailand, many metres up a 15cm wide rickety ladder....at least they had a spotter to 'prevent' falls.
  5. It was a 2013 and I suspect not treated well
  6. A particularly bad BBF last weekend, harsh and tasteless....not bought from Rob, that's why it must have failed!
  7. Bookers has a great flavour balance for barrel proof. I love my rum though!
  8. Ruined my 2013 NYE and has put me off drinking single malts...the thought of it makes me squirm!
  9. About to kick off another cider, the daily average temp is a bit higher than expected so may delay a few weeks (Brisbane weather!) The last one ended up being fairly potent yet smooth. The champagne yeast produced a very syrupy - molasses brew, nice both chilled and warmed on a wintery night.
  10. Right now....Sailor Jerry, started with a Bakers, picking up a replacement Remy Martin VSOP at Dan Murphy's tomorrow though.....that's my favourite daily drink.
  11. Growing up in the UK in the 80's and reciting the infamous eeny, meeny....poem, I find the massive PC/racism shift over the past 30 years as intriguing. I used to work with an extremely old-school chemist that used to refer to the solution to a difficult problem as the 'n' in the wood pile! I'm actually a bit bemused that I have to write it as such not to offend. I miss frank and blunt expression.
  12. Nothing of volume today, bought a couple of BBF's as I haven't had any in a long while. But did have a good chuckle at the guy from Dominos that wanted a box of Cohibas "for under $100 mate"
  13. Sadly my drinking rate has increased, so many good spiced rums around. I need to have a nice dark spirit to go with a cigar. Sometimes a good rum will inspire an impromptu cigar smoke!
  14. West Ham supporter here. Born in Dagenham, dad worked for Dagenham Motors (Ford foundry) so it's in the blood. A bit hard to be a loyal fan from Brisbane though
  15. Visited Cognac in 2013....Remy use fairly old blends in their VSOP to get the required flavour, up to 25 years old and superior to most of the manufacturers. Otard is an exception, also very good. Straight Cognac should be an XO minimum, much more syrupy and smooth with a mellow flavour. Louis XIII is something amazing! We visited the chateau housing these unique barrels, the oldest were 150 years plus! A great region to visit if you're in France.
  16. Hmm I wonder if I can get enough sample and run it on the FT-IR at work? It'll give a basic composition and I can run it against the Sigma Aldrich library!
  17. Get a printers loupe....you can quickly see the difference between ropey mould and oil efflorescence
  18. Funny my D4's have got some nice white crystals also!
  19. Ku De Ta in Bali.....enjoying the views, music and a 'dark and stormy'
