Cuban group La Charanga Habanera in San Francisco Bay Area

If any members of FOH live in Northern California, La Charanga Habanera one of Cuba's hottest groups will be performing Dec 22, 2009 at cafe Cocomos in San Francisco. First show in 9 years in the US. I talked to the club and they got a patio so if you want to fire up some cigars its all good.

I'd never heard of them. In watching the video clips, they seem rather boy band-ish - is that fairly accurate, or off base?

Yeah well La Charanga Habanera is one of the most famous bands second to Los Van Van. They are a timba salsa group with real band and real vocalists. They are very popular world wide and in Cuba with the young. President has been to Cuba he will tell you their music is all over the streets in Havana. The song Soy Popular is their most famous song. Most of the new Cuban artists look like the boy bands.
