INTRO: This stick needs no introduction. I smoked my only one in celebration of the birth of my second son last week. The cigar was purchased by me while in Tijuana visting Moises Vargas of LCDH in 2007.

PRE-LIGHT NOTES: Very firm feel in hand. A massive double robusto that narrows to a blunted point at the head. Wrapper is a medium colorado and very oily.

FIRST THIRD: Clipped with scissors and lit slowly with a piece of cedar. Draw was tight initially but opened up considerably after first few minutes. Blasts of cedar and spice hit me immediately, which settled into tea with cream as the most prominent flavor. Very Upmann-like.

SECOND THIRD: Tea and soft spices gave way to leather and earth in spades. Flavor profile went from 0 to 60 at this point in no time. Definitely a full-flavored experience now. Burn was spot-on.

FINAL THIRD: Flavors of leather and cuban twang take over entirely. Nicotine level must be very high as I was getting a head buzz from this one. Suppose there is a hefty amount of ligero present. Even though this stick delivered a knockout punch to me in the end, the flavors were so well-balanced that I didn't notice its incredible strength until I started to get up later and found it better to remain seated. Or maybe it was the third glass of port.

END NOTES: This was a special cigar that is surely fit for any special occasion. Perhaps I will scuttle a few away to smoke with my boys when they graduate college. 94 points.

One of the few expensive REs I find worth the money. Great smokes. I find the 07s more complex, the 08s stronger. Quite happy to have some of each.
